rhsjr Posted January 6, 2019 #1 Share Posted January 6, 2019 Why would I want to pre-pay for a drink package (charging my credit card) when I have OBC's that would pay when settling my account?

There is no advantage to pre pay. Wait until you board if you want.
GUT2407 Posted January 6, 2019 #3 Share Posted January 6, 2019 The only possible advantage I can think of would be if currency exchange is an issue and you’ll use the OBC anyway.
LeeW Posted January 6, 2019 #4 Share Posted January 6, 2019 Haven't ever seen precruise sales on drink packages on Princess, so no advantage to buying early for most people.
paul929207 Posted January 6, 2019 #5 Share Posted January 6, 2019 For you there is probably no benefit. Others might want to get the package paid for.
Bethcb Posted January 6, 2019 #6 Share Posted January 6, 2019 I always get it onboard as soon as we board and use OBC. Surprise to me leaving out of San Diego recently for a 15 day cruise and was charged an extra tax from the city of SD for the whole soda package. Had I waiting after leaving port, I would have avoided that tax and I was not notified about it by staff. I heard that some ports out of Texas also have a city tax while in port
