Rare Peachypooh Posted January 12, 2019 #1 Share Posted January 12, 2019 Has anyone gotten a credit through NCL cancel for any reason?(we have their insurance) We might have to cancel due to elderly relatives' needs (not sick or in the hospital, etc.)so I don't think we will be covered. How did that work and did you get the cruise credit as promised? thanks.

Important note see the list of expenses not included in the credit calculation. "Norwegian Cruise Line will provide guests who are denied due to a non-covered reason with a future cruise credit equal to 75% of the non-refundable cancellation charge to use on your next cruise with us. For guests who upgrade to BookSafe Platinum Protection, this credit is increased to 90% of the non-refundable cancellation charge. Important note: Cruise credits cannot be applied to government taxes and fees, port expenses, air add-ons, land packages, travel protection, Shore Excursions, gratuities, incidentals, or any purchases of a personal nature. They are non-transferrable and may not be combined with other cruise credit certificates or fare reduction coupons."
Rare BirdTravels Posted January 12, 2019 #4 Share Posted January 12, 2019 (edited) We have used it. The credit goes on your account for a future cruise. The one catch is that it must be used for ONE future cruise (can’t be split). In most cases this is not a problem. In our case, we canceled an Alaskan cruise which was expensive so the credit could not be used on a cheaper Caribbean cruise without leaving money on the table. You cancel your cruise. Collect all your cancellation documents. File a claim with the insurance company (In your case a elderly relative). Wait for the insurance company to deny the claim for it uncovered reason. And then as NCL will post a credit to your account. Lots of people work, but not complicated. Edited January 12, 2019 by BirdTravels
