Grandeur of the Seas

I have not been on the Grandeur since 2013. Has much changed? Looking at the deck plans, it doesn't seem that I notice much different. Was actually looking to see if Sorrento's or Johnny Rockets might have been added.

No to both eateries.

I’m not sure what you remember.

For a small ship, it has plenty of “stuff”.

Not like the big girls, but more than Enchantment, for example.

Izumi, Chops & Giovanni’s Table Plus Chef’s Table are the specialty restaurants.

VOOM has improved somewhat in the past week. Still spotty, though.

One disappointment:  Windjammer closes at 8:30. 😳

Casino needs an overhaul, but I was told that is happening in the upcoming drydock.

Crew is the best and friendliest in the fleet. Almost spoils things when I’m on another ship. (Almost 😉)

i think that the R Bar (replacing the Champagne Bar) may be new to you.

Parking at the port is $15 a day.

Soft serve “ice cream” machines on pool deck have greatly shortened hours, but that’s on all the ships.

There have been staffing cutbacks, but that’s on all the ships.

They re-did the cabin bathrooms and put in stupid “vessel” sinks.

It is a very small ship.  There is not much room to add anything.

And yet year she was Launched was called a Megaship, one of largest Classes back then. Was one of most Beautiful ships, sailed on her 1st yr and 40+ nites back in the 90's. But agree limited space now after adding all extra cabins and as said the CL, DL, and Park Cafe...

We have sailed on Grandeur several times. . . and we have a B2B scheduled for this spring. So, we like the ship.  We enjoy reading, sitting on our balcony watching the sea and walking on the track.

However, I disagree that GOTS has plenty of "Stuff,"  and certainly not as much as Enchantment.  I am sorry Enchantment left Baltimore. She has an additional nightclub [Boleros] and a much larger pool deck with a nice bar on the side behind glass so you can enjoy the view without the wind at night. It is a nice place to be at sunset.

I feel the staff varies.  We have sailed the GOTS when most crew were in the middle of their contracts and things went well.  On a couple of other cruises everyone seemed new and the cruise service suffered. This seems to happen when RCL has a new ship and they take many of the more experienced [and better] crew to staff it.

I am glad to hear the VOOM has improved.  We will be on her for 21 days and will need to check in with family/older relatives.

I apologize. On rereading my post, I see that I was unclear. My comparison referred ONLY to the specialty restaurants. Enchantment didn’t add more in the stretch - still only has Chops.

Sorry about the misunderstanding. 😊

Does anyone know what refurbishments/changes will take place during the March 2019 drydock?

Nothing publicly announced by the cruise line.  Could be nothing apparent to guests, just required marine maintenance and inspection.

Yes, I enjoy Boleros. And I do prefer Enchantment over Grandeur. I recently moved from Baltimore to Florida, so I feel fortunate that I got to enjoy the Enchantment several times (both Baltimore and Port Canaveral, without flying to port.)   :)

Grandeur is going into drydock the beginning of March until March 22.  Looking forward to see what they did if anything visible.

Nope. Maybe some new carpet in a few places, but it's really just a marine drydock.  (a few new machines in the casino & a casino host desk)

I asked tonight.  😄

Can you tell me the location and hours of the Park Cafe and what they serve? Thanks!

Depends on the time of day.  Hot dogs, burgers, pizza, panini, salads, fruit cups, cupcakes, cookies, marinated salads, nachos, tacos, meat sandwiches (like roast beef)....…………..

8 AM to 1 AM.  Gap in service 11-noon & 5:30-8:30.

It's in the Solarium, Deck 9, aft.
