We were on Riveria last Saturday January 26 which docked in the Port of Miami Terminal J at 6:00 AM. There were already 5 mega ships docked along the northside of the Port berths.

Disembarkation is from Deck 6 mid-ship and by 7:30 Martinis lounge was packed with passengers. We kept our 3 pieces of luggage with us [many others did also] and were off the ship at 8:10 AM, straight through the Passport check point, into a taxi at 8:20 AM and at MIA airport at 8:50 AM for a 10:55 flight.

Taxi fare from the Port to MIA is a flat $27 USD. If you let Oceania book your air, they will not book your flight before 12 noon.

Thanks much for the information.  I did some reading on the subject last night.  Seems anything after 12:00 is doable, but things do happen regardless what time you disembark.

Just have to get a little lucky.   Probably be  O.K.

We also were on this cruise.  We had a 12:20 flight.  We walked out of our stateroom at 8am, picked up our bags in the terminal, were picked up by uber within minutes, arrived at the airport, checked in, went through security and were at our gate at 9am. Unfortunately than we had to wait for several hours for our flight in what I consider one of the worst airports we've ever been in.

Yup,  worse than third world.     As to bags we got off in Oct.  about 8:30 and found one of our bags missing.  Person left one that was a little alike to ours.  It took the port staff about 45 min to track ours down, so there can be things that just happen to slow your exit from the pier and maybe miss an early flight.  Just saying. Won't happen very often but could.

12:15 flight is fine.  We’ve made an even earlier flight.

Agree with previous comments about the Miami airport, especially the American Airlines terminal.  It gets worse as the day progresses.  This terminal has a 60 gate corridor, few eateries and not much gate seating.

Thank god for TSA precheck via Global Entry.

We walked off Riviera this morning at 7:45. Grabbed our bags,  through customs and in a cab by 7:55. Arrived MIA at 8:10 and through security in about 5 mins (we have precheck). We are now sitting at our gate waitIng for our 10:00 flight with an hour and a half to spare.

Everything went perfect for us and it’s a Tuesday so no lines at all. Many on here would not recommend what we did however we have always booked a flight between 10-1130 with never even cutting it close. Of course things can happen, but a 12:15 flight I wouldn’t even think twice about.
