ID off ship/minors

Quick question about ID in port. I know there is a debate between take passport or not taken passport off the ship. If a person chooses to leave their passports on the ship and carry their drivers license/S&S card, what do minor’s take? Just the S&S card? Should anything else be taken off ship for the minor?

Minors do not need ID for ports. Only take S&S card.

If a port requires ID to re-enter the port area those under 16 do not need an ID, those 16 and over need a government issued ID.

They need there parent.  No parent, no getting on or off.

When our kids were young, they just took their sail & sign card.  They were never away from us.  Once they were over 16, they took their license as well.  Still, they were always with us.

Or other adult that is responsible for the minor.  Grandparents can take grandchildren on cruises without the parent. Also I've read about a child's friend coming along but the friend's parents are not on the cruise.
