First Time Nassau

This will be our first time in Nassau. We will only be there 5 hours. Really less since we have to be on ship half hour before leaving. What is there to do there in that amount of time? We get in at 1 pm on a Saturday. Are there any markets and where can we find them? This just seems like a tease stop to me. Not much time to do much.

Thanks for any info.

After you depart the cruise terminal, walk east on Bay Street on the right side of the street and visit whatever shops interest you along there or on the side streets to your right.

When you get to the big white tent you will have located the Straw Market. You can amuse yourself in there for as long as you want. When finished, walk back on Bay Street on the opposite side for more shops. The cruise terminal itself also has some interesting kiosks.

We've found the taxi rides to be an adventure. We had one that drove down the sidewalk to get around traffic!

Seriously though...we took one ship excursion that provided a boat tour of the harbor and then took us to a semi-submersible which was kind of cool. On our particular trip it was best to sit on the starboard side, which of course we were not on. The whole tour was fun and we did get to see a lot of really nice houses along the harbor (or channel, whatever you call it). We saw sting rays and a lot of fish on the sub part of the tour. Just a word of warning...they pack people in kind of tight on those subs so if you are closterphobic you might not want to do this.

We took a taxi ride over ($pp) to Cabbage Beach (public beach), and soaked up the sun. The water was beautiful. There are little beach hut bars on the beach the serve up some mean hurricanes :-) Cabbage Beach is right next to Atlantis so before we caught a taxi back we walked into Atlantis peeked at the casino and the glass art and used the potty. We had a great time!
