kokopelli-az Posted February 14, 2019 #1 Share Posted February 14, 2019 We will be in Key West on Feb 24 and are considering taking a taxi from the pier (docking at the Westin) to the Hemingway Home. We will have a collapsible wheelchair. Can anyone who has been at the Hemingway Home with a wheelchair give their experience? I was also wondering if you have to take the guided tour or if you can just tour the grounds on your own? Or what exactly can you do/see on your own if you don't take the guided tour. Of course, we have to see the cats so we want to make sure that however we do this includes being able to see them.

spookwife Posted February 14, 2019 #3 Share Posted February 14, 2019 Only if they are outside. I had a rough time and all I had was a cane. They tend to hang out in the gardens off the paved walkways. No elevator so if they can’t do stairs, on,y the first floor and garden/pool.
onelegcraig Posted March 1, 2019 #4 Share Posted March 1, 2019 (edited) I sat in the garden talking to the cats 🐈, while my wife did the house tour. She said it was very interesting, but would have been difficult even with my crutches, steep stairs and no elevator. The gardens are beautiful though and the cats were friendly.
