We were on the Spirit in January and thought Claudette was great. Please ask her to sing John Prine’s “ Angel from Montgomery “ one more time for her fans from Nashville. She does a great job!! Hope you have a great Cruise. daddyo, thank you. We will be sure to make that request the next time we see Claudette, and extend greetings from her fans from Nashville. Rare boblerm Posted February 17, 2019 Author #29 Share Posted February 17, 2019 After dinner, there was a "death by chocolate" buffet on the pool deck followed by a dance party. Grandma and Grandpa babysat so the kids could enjoy, but Grandpa snuck up for a bit for father daughter dance.
Rare Lois R Posted February 17, 2019 #30 Share Posted February 17, 2019 Hi Bob, enjoying your "Live From" very much Happy birthday to Jeannie and I must say, you have a lovely family. Your grandson is definitely a cutie pie. What a wonderful thing to be able to do......having a family cruise. My parents are both gone now but I remember way back in 1992 we went on a short, Carnival cruise for their 50th Anniversary. It was a fun trip (we never cruised as a family for vacations)….so this was definitely different. We sailed out of Pt. Canaveral and I still have some framed photos from it! I will always remember this was my Mom's last vacation as she passed away 4 months after the cruise so it was very bittersweet. Anyway, hope ya'll have a fantastic time and looking forward to the rest of your pictures too!
Rare boblerm Posted February 17, 2019 Author #31 Share Posted February 17, 2019 Today we are in St Barts. Noah enjoyed the tender ride in, looking at the "b-i-i-g boats!" We walked to Shell Beach, a pleasant walk of perhaps 20 minutes from the tender pier. Less most likely if one is not pushing a baby in a stroller, and no one in the party obsessively compulsively stops every 30 seconds or so to snap photos. Shell Beach is so called because...... But there is a large sandy area There are chairs and umbrellas for rent, but they were all reserved. So the lesson is that if one wishes to spend the day at Shell Beach, which is not a bad way to go for a stop in St Barts, it behooves one to reserve at least a few days ahead. Bear in mind that the cost of renting chairs and umbrellas, plus the cost of lunch and beverages will be somewhere between an Arm and a Leg.

napria Posted February 18, 2019 #36 Share Posted February 18, 2019 I’m so glad you took the stroll to Shell Beach. We meant to go last April while we were there, but got caught up poking into the shops in town and forgot! Love all the pics. And what a sweet little boy! You all seem to be really enjoying yourselves. Nothing but smiles on every face in your pictures. It’s getting me excited for our trip!
Rare boblerm Posted February 18, 2019 Author #37 Share Posted February 18, 2019 Thank you, napria, when is your trip? Last night was formal night. On 7 day cruises, it is formal optional. We opted in. Amy and Chris went all in. And Noah refused to be left out. Had cocktails in Dolce Vita, and daddyo, Claudette was pleased to get greetings from her Nashville fans. Dinner at Atlantide I would say qualifies as an OMG. Beef and caviar tartare, Oscietra caviar, and Baltic salmon Signature lobster salad, Porcini and mushroom risotto, and Rougie duck salad Chilean sea bass, Greenland cod, and New Zealand lamb
Rare boblerm Posted February 18, 2019 Author #38 Share Posted February 18, 2019 Last night was the first production show. Considering the fact that it was the first show of the cruise, the theater is quite small, and was maybe 2/3 full, I think it is safe to say that people do not tend to cruise with Silversea for the entertainment. The show was,... how shall I say it?.... low budget? Oh well. After the show the performers did a few numbers in Panama lounge followed by dancing with the DJ, it was lots of fun.
Rare boblerm Posted February 18, 2019 Author #39 Share Posted February 18, 2019 Today we are in Dominica and will arrive at noon. Chris, Amy, Noah and Jeannie are going on the Rousseau Trolley tour, Jason and I are taking the Volcanic Adventure tour. I will try to post some photos tomorrow. Tonight Jeannie, Jason and I are dining tonight at La Dame. Bob

We certainly are having a great time! Yesterday we were in Dominica, (pronounced with the accent on the 3rd syllable, not on the second as one would think). Jason and I took the curiously named Volcanic Adventures tour. Dominica was especially hard hit by Maria. They are making great strides in recovery, but still have a long way to go. Our tour guide said that she still does not have electricity. 😥
Rare boblerm Posted February 19, 2019 Author #43 Share Posted February 19, 2019 We went to Morne Bruce for a nice view We drove through the Botanical Gardens, I imagine it was quite lovely pre-Maria 😥
Rare boblerm Posted February 19, 2019 Author #44 Share Posted February 19, 2019 Jason wanted to take a picture of the old goat. But I got out of the frame so that he could get a better shot of the animal instead.

Rare boblerm Posted February 19, 2019 Author #46 Share Posted February 19, 2019 Our last stop was Papillote Wellness Resort & Spa. We relaxed in in one of the hot sulphur tubs filled with hot volcanic sulphur water. It had been raining on and off all afternoon, but started coming down harder when we arrived. So we got wet. Rare boblerm Posted February 19, 2019 Author #47 Share Posted February 19, 2019 The rest of the gang took the Rousseau Trolley tour. It was very nice, but the best part was Noah's pointing out the sights of Rousseau ("b-i-i-g truck,... bl-u-u" e house,... etc. ")
Rare boblerm Posted February 19, 2019 Author #48 Share Posted February 19, 2019 Jeannie, Jason and I had dinner in la Dame last night (not an appropriate venue for Noah, Amy and Chris will dine there another night) I must say that la Dame is probably the most unique dining experience that I have ever had at sea. There are some amazing specialty restaurants on many cruise ships, but what makes this venue so special is that it is a so small, about 8 tables, and one gets such gracious, attentive service. It is a whole different vibe. And the food ain't too shabby either! Starters Foie Gras « Williams » Nos Escargots de Bourgogne St. Jacques des Pauvres (scallops) We all then had the Velouté des Sous-bois (mushroom soup) and the Sole de la Petite Pêche (Dover Sole) Finally, Soufflé au Grand Marnier, and Fromage. It was a wonderful dining experience on every level.
Rare boblerm Posted February 19, 2019 Author #49 Share Posted February 19, 2019 The show last night was an opera performance by the 6 singers. They have nice operatic voices. The theater was perhaps 1/4 full. I think there were a few costume changes this time. No "scenery"changes, however.
Rare boblerm Posted February 19, 2019 Author #50 Share Posted February 19, 2019 Today we are in St Lucia. We took a cab to Vivgie Beach (pronounced V-G), about a 7 minute cab ride. Perfection. We stayed for about 2 1/2 hours, but then someone got a little cranky and had to come back for his nap. I felt much better afterwards. Noah would have preferred to stay longer.
