So I was like so much for THAT...we will just enjoy the NS. TODAY I got another offer and....I couldn't pass it up! So YES we will be in our first PS! BTW...this was the first upgrade offer I've EVER gotten from ANY cruise line! Thanks to everyone for the above info! WOW! Very nice 🙂 So happy for you. Definitely pick a night and do course by course dining in your suite. Invite friends if you want and it will all be arranged. Just like the MDR but a bit different as it will be your own private party 😄 Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy 😄 😄 😄

chill6x6 Posted March 21, 2019 Author #28 Share Posted March 21, 2019 Thanks folks! I'm not going to tell my girlfriend and she won't even know until we get on the ship! She knew we had booked a NS but not about THIS! This should be a lot of fun!

If that doesn’t give her an idea, the escort onto the ship might 😉 What a delightful surprise for her 😄

Since we were on the train from Anchorage the Hotel Manager did not know when we would be on the ship so taking the chance I did not mull around to ruin the surprise. I was really nervous to her reaction but I felt better when the first words from her lips was "Get the Camera" I knew I was home free.

I did it for DH but just a Neptune Suite at the time. The deal was pretty dam good and since we were already 5* going in the different lineup didn't alert him. We walked down the hall (and he knew it was the Neptune Suites) and he thought I knew a short cut to the room so he didn't question me. I put the key in the door with the balloons on it and told him "we were home". He was pretty happy, too. 🙂

*Flipper123 Posted March 10, 2020 #35 Share Posted March 10, 2020 My family of 4 did a Pinny Suite on the Oosterdam. I booked a Neptune aft 750 square foot room for 3 and hoped my oldest would return early from London for the trip, and she did. The online calculator showed I could have 4 persons and calculated the price, however when I called to add my daughter, they said the room was only rated for 3! Holy Hell, I booked the Pinnacle Suite fast and didn't tell my wife. She didn't even notice at check in and the counter people didn't blab. I then snuck back to the counter folks and told them the room upgrade was a surprise for my wife and they were having great fun, so it was kept very quiet. They had a private entrance made for us, elevators open with people waiting all the way and an entourage followed until we had about 15 people involved. They select people you know if possible and this is very nice to see a happy face or two. My wife still didn't know it was the Pinny, until I told her. It is triple the size of a Neptune suite and with very thick and silent doors it makes 2 suites with the separate bathrooms. The fridge is about 4 times the size of the mini fridges, you get a kitchen and free champagne on embarkation at the Neptune Lounge. And don't be surprised, everyone on board will know you and greet you, which is a bit unnerving because you wonder where you met them before. We snuck a birthday cake on board and ate in the Pinnacle Grill, then went to the Vista dining room for the cake later in the evening when most people were gone. They sang happy birthday to my daughter from London, and did it in English, Indonesian and then sang another song, all with drums and a dancer, so much fun. We ate a tiny slice of the cake and shared the remainder with the crew, which they will probably remember for a long time. Freeze the cake first so it travels well. I also host a crew party, and to do this you go to the HR Manager and pay money, and when you do this, everyone knows you instantly and you are part of their happy family. I fund one party paying for alcohol and another party for food because many of the crew do not drink and the women won't attend a party with alcohol. Note when you disembark, they want you off first, so ask the night before for that time, they will have a special line up for you.
Rare *Miss G* Posted March 10, 2020 #36 Share Posted March 10, 2020 Wow. How very kind of you @*Flipper123!! I bet you were the hit of the sailing with both family and crew. Thanks for sharing.
chipcop2002 Posted Tuesday at 07:38 PM #37 Share Posted Tuesday at 07:38 PM I've sailed HA several times and the experiences were delightful each and every time. I'm doing a PS for the very first time this upcoming April (7 day Alaska). I'm flying solo but I do have a few friends book into a non-suite cabin. To what degree can I consider including these friends? Can I purchase and host an in suite party (not animal house but quiet and sedate) to include these non-suite guests? Thanks, everyone! wdw1972 Posted Tuesday at 10:40 PM #38 Share Posted Tuesday at 10:40 PM You can invite whomever you'd like into your stateroom. They cannot join you in the Neptune Lounge, though. Sue/WDW1972

Sue/WDW1972 It's very funny that that two of you resurrected this old post of mine! We did sail the previous Rotterdam in a PS and it was great! AND....we will be aboard the current Rotterdam in the PS coming up in November! Pretty neat!

Absolutely, you are free to do whatever you want in the suite. Talk to the Neptune Lounge concierge and they will be happy to arrange whatever you want. They can provide bottles of wine/liquor/beer plus hors d'oeuvres or other snacks. If the party is going to be large, they might even be able to provide a HAL bar tender or waiter to serve it, but we have never actually done that. Of course you can also order dinner in your suite and invite other guests. Unfortunately, the dining room table only seats 4 (except for the Volendam and Zaandam which seats 6), but you might be able to squeeze 5 if your room steward can bring in another chair. When dining in the main dining room, be sure to talk to the maitre d' and they will give you the best table in the house, and your guests are welcome to join you for dinner. However, the non-suite guests will not be able to do other things that the PS suite entitles you to: use of the Neptune Lounge, meals in the Club Orange dining room (in Pinnacle Class ships), breakfast in the Pinnacle Grill (on non-Pinnacle Class ships), priority boarding and tendering, etc.
