Rare RCCL Fan Posted March 6, 2019 #1 Share Posted March 6, 2019 Traveling with a 5 year old and 10 year old girl and I'm super struggling with what to do on this island. We have plans at beaches in Roatan and Cozumel on this upcoming cruise. Costa Maya is our day without plans. I'm kinda into the idea of no beach this day. I like clear blue water ( won't get in lakes where i can't see the bottom) so I don't think I'll like the beaches. With young kids ruins, and ziplines, and big water slides are out. Kids are too young to appreciate ruins, and too short be allowed to do ziplining and water slides. Is there anything else?? This is the port we'd love a local tour guide to show us around bring us somewhere unique, but I can't find anything of the like. Any advice for kid friendly activities? BNBR Posted March 6, 2019 #2 Share Posted March 6, 2019 It's a tiny beach town. Otherwise just hang out at the pool at the port. No local tours because it's too small. It's not an island so no around the island type tour. It's really all about ruins or beaches. And they have the lowest price small/intimate beach clubs of anywhere I've seen. If you don't want to do that, stay on the ship or just hang out at the port area by the pool.
kren250 Posted March 10, 2019 #3 Share Posted March 10, 2019 Since you aren't interested in doing the beaches here, I would still consider the ruins or the water park near the port. Check out some YouTube videos of both places :-). You will see kids enjoying them. I'm pretty sure the 10 year old would be tall enough to zipline at the water park. The video I watched showed kids much younger than that doing it. As for the Chacchoben ruins, the kids would probably think it was neat to climb up the few steps you can climb, and/or be on the lookout for wildlife. Give them each a cheap camera and have them take pictures. Otherwise, there's a bird aviary right in port you could do.
