Upgrade after price drop?

The price of our upcoming cruise has dropped by a few hundred dollars, but apparently because of the code we booked with (the VIFP code "PZT") and the fact that it's after final payment date, Carnival won't make a price adjustment.  🤷‍♀️

We are currently in an oceanview but because of the price drop, the balcony is now only about $50 more than what we paid. Is it possible to upgrade and apply the amount we already paid to the higher cabin?  I reached out to my TA about it, but wanted to see what the options were in the meantime.

Thanks!

Which Rate Code did you book initially? Early Saver? Pack and Go? With Early Saver, you have price protection up to 2 Business Days prior to sailing. Call to speak with a supervisor if you did.

Depending on the circumstance, yes. Wait for your TA to get back to you. Your TA might just upgrade you, despite what Carnival says, just for booking with them.

The rate code was PZT "EXCLUSIVE VIFP CLUB MEMBER RATES" and that is the same code I would like to apply to upgrade.  The fine print doesn't mention price protection.

Call Carnival, and ask to speak with a supervisor. Then explain to them the situation politely. If you are fortunate, they will upgrade you to a balcony!

Hi

With your rate code you would not be allowed price protection after final payment.

As bury me at sea says, you will be allowed to upgrade...if you want.

have a great cruise

I believe your TA will have to make the call to Carnival.

I also believe Carnival will happily take your money for an upgrade.  You would probably lose any OBC that is tied to your booking.

I was just told yesterday by my PVP that any bookings done THIS year with the Casino Rate will not have price protection.  You are out of luck if the price goes down.   This is different than last year when I booked with casino rate.  I was able to get about $150 in OBC due to prices dropping twice.  I was also able to upgrade for the difference between an ocean view and an aft balcony using a casino rate.  I booked yesterday using "Early Saver", my casino offer was not that great, it would only save me $10-$15 over "Early Saver".

That is why you book Early Saver then switch to the casino offer
