Transport options to FLL with wheelchair

We need to get from Port Everglades to Alamo at FLL and are not sure of the best option.

 

There will be 2 adults and a teenager, 3 suitcases and a folding wheelchair. 

 

Should we pre-book a shuttle or try Uber/Luft? I'm not sure if we would need 2 Ubers or would an UberXL be big enough? We are from the UK so not really familiar with the different options.

The Alamo location on Eller Drive is literally five minutes away from Port Everglades. The easiest way to do it his is to have only one person take the free shuttle to the Alamo location on Eller Drive. Pick up the rental vehicle and then drive back to Port Everglades and pick up the rest of the family. That way it’s not necessary to have Uber/ Lyft or a taxi take everyone over to Alamo.

We're not picking the car up at the Port but at Alamo at FLL. We drop off at Eller Drive before the cruise but were only able to pick up at the FLL location after the cruise.

Taxi van should be able to accommodate all of your bags and passengers.  Fare should be about $15+ on the meter.

Brilliant, thanks. Would we be able to pick one up at the Port or would I need to pre-book?

No problem picking one up at the port (they are very common).

There will be a line of taxis waiting.  You may need to wait a couple of minutes for a van or SUV taxi big enough for your party to get to the front of the line.  Insist that the driver use the meter - some lie about a flat rate fare and will overcharge you.

What’s the reason why you can’t pick up a rental vehicle at the Alamo Eller Drive location? It’s just outside of the Port Everglades entrance.

We could pick up at the Port but prefer the airport location as we can skip the counter and find they have a better selection of cars.
