Seating in the shade at HMC? Waitlisted for Clamshells

We normally rent a clamshell on HMC, this time I waited too long and now we're waitlisted...😞   I don't have high hopes that one will magically appear.

We need a shady place to sit and keep our stuff, are we screwed?    Suggestions welcome!

There is some shade along the line of cabanas. Not the best shade, but people try regularly. However, in many places it is less than smooth and comfortable ground. People drag lounge chairs up there, and there are a few hammocks.

Where do you reserve the clam shells at?

You can, on HAL, book them before sailing. They are treated as a shore excursion. On Carnival I believe you can only book them when you board the ship, or arrive at the island.

If you see a tree with shade, pull your loungers under it...they are moveable!
