Pbcruiser001 Posted April 2, 2019 #1 Share Posted April 2, 2019 One of the river cruises we are considering is in Lyon France on Whit Sunday & Monday 2020, both listed as national holidays. Will this adversely impact activities in Lyon those days? (places of interest that might be closed?). Thank you.
kentchris Posted April 2, 2019 #2 Share Posted April 2, 2019 Without any indication of what you're thinking about doing your question is so open as to be almost unanswerable: can you not check directly on the web sites of places you're particularly interested in? French museums are usually closed on Mondays if they have a weekday 'day off', so the national holiday on Whit Monday probably won't make a great deal of difference to those. Canal archive Posted April 3, 2019 #3 Share Posted April 3, 2019 Will let you know in about 3 to 4 weeks as we leave for our cruise with Scenic on Easter Monday. In the past it has depended whether the holiday is religious or not but shops and markets are usually closed whichever the holiday is. Cathedrals are often closed on Mondays as well regardless if it’s a holiday or not. CA

Canal archive Posted June 19, 2019 #5 Share Posted June 19, 2019 Believe it or not it was really hit and miss there was no norm. The Labour day bank holiday is very much observed throughout mainland Europe but is usually on the day of May 1st, in the UK it’s on the nearest Monday. We weren’t cruising on Whit Monday.
