Can anyone tell me ... does the app unlock your stateroom door and can it be used for payment onboard?

Yes, it has a digital key.   You can book things and check your folio.  I'm not sure about paying for things. Good question!

You can’t ‘pay’ using the App, you will already set up prior payment via a CC as always done and that is the way payment is made. The App lists out all the daily activities and lets you add them to your own calendar. When you made an excursion via the ship and dining it shows up also. It lets you text other passengers. 

 

It all sounds good, but it isn’t the most reliable app, but seems to be getting better. Our first cruise it was very tentative and the next, it worked a bit better. Once it fully works advertised, it will be very useful.

Yes, I understand that.I guess I'm trying to get an idea if it's similar to the Medallion on Princess or like Magic bands at Disney. But it doesn't sound like it.. they have radio signals that connect for charging to your account onboard etc etc
