Port or starboard

Just booked a transatlantic Cruise for Oct 2020 Lisbon to. Miami.  Booked a suite on the Viking Sky.   Wondering which side would get the most sun exposure?    The suite is on the stern.  I’m thinking port.

P-O-S-H - Port Out, Starboard Home. Port is the left hand side of the ship looking forward.

This was used in the old days of the Transatlantic liners going from Europe 'OUT to America.'

I think POSH was from the trips from England to India in the old days.

You are correct.

In those days there was no aircon on ships. It got very hot inside.

POSH was the code to plan for the least amount of sun (on the shadiest side of the ship) when the ship was in the tropics.
