Yes, I know it's not a muffler.

Ya, I noticed that the Royal Caribbean Blog used the term pearl (not a coincidence I am sure) to describe the shape of this piece of the Icon. 🙂 I have seen it elsewhere. You can't wait to see it installed in (e.g. inside) or on top of (e.g. top decks) the ship... ?!

Lloyd555 Posted February 8, 2022 Author #412 Share Posted February 8, 2022 From Charlie Crockett in the FB group: At the Top Tier event today on Oasis, the Cruise Director mentioned that initial plans for Icon was not to have an AquaTheater, but when Nick Weir heard that he insisted that one be added, but since the rear of the ship was already locked up (in design), it will be placed someplace else on the ship. You can get an idea of its size when you see the shipyard employees inside of it. I lightened up the photo from Matt's blog so that we can make out the interior of the final state of the sphere before it was sent off on a barge to Mobimar Oy* (we assume). * responsible for construction of FlowRiders, RipCord by iFly, SkyPad, etc. Nobody spotted it in the FERU - Meyer Turku photos. Mind you, the snow storm didn't help. 🙂 What about something this? It could even be attached to a giant mechanical arm, something like North Star, but instead of going up for an view from above, it could give guests a view under the surface. Something like that might fit nicely where the AquaTheater is on Odyssey. It doesn't look like something that would be completely submerged, but possibly enough for awesome viewing. If this isn't what it's intended use is, maybe it should be considered for Icon 2.

Kinda look like stainless steel pipes. It looks like just duct work. The square one will tie into the vents below (probably return/exhaust air), and the round ones are supply air. Those will probably be extended and run out to overhead vents after all of the aerial work lifts are out of the way. They would probably need plenty of fresh air supply, especially if the sphere was to be completely sealed up watertight😁. The interior is supposedly covered with 3700 pieces of glass. I have seen that posted in a few spots. One or twice by Meyer Turku employees. Lloyd555 Posted February 9, 2022 Author #419 Share Posted February 9, 2022 The Icon of the Seas FERU (Floating Engine Room Unit for you newbies) has been moved off to the side for Friday's Carnival Celebration float out. And then soon after that... Meyer Turku can lay the Icon of the Seas in the basin. Janne-Petteri Kumpulainen

Lloyd555 Posted February 9, 2022 Author #423 Share Posted February 9, 2022 (edited) Images from today's FERU move. 📷Janne-Petteri Kumpulainen The 'Spatula' block was moved (the gap between the two blocks directly behind the Carnival Celebration). Not that it's unusual for them to move them around though. (older photo below) Look at all the blocks!! They've been busy!
