Icon of the Seas Blocks Are In The House!

Recommended Posts

Interesting images with some new cabin blocks (Decks 6-7-8?) - a block consisting primarily of cabins - that will be installed above the blocks that we have seen sitting around for a while in the yard.
These blocks have the balconies on one side, and what looks like the Royal promenade and what could be an open central area (à la Central Park) on the opposite side of the block.

@Lloyd555 I think these blocks lined up next to the building could also be for Icon. The one in the middle with the opening looks interesting. In fact they all do with what looks like wide outdoor promenade.

Oh they are for Icon.

The Carnival Celebration has all her blocks installed.  Any blocks and pieces that show up in the near future will belong to Icon.

Not something very low in the hull.

Curious what people here think it may be.

You can see the size/height of the tiers compared to the people nearby (in small image on the right) and the welder from another image (on the left below) thatI overlapped with the main image.

Those tiers remind me of an amphitheatre. There may be stairs on the right side that we cannot see or perhaps they have yet to be added...

... or there will be a ramp on each side of the tiers perhaps.

It is thanks to some back & forth with Manfred in the FB group, that have me thinking that perhaps it'll be like an amphitheatre. Somewhere to sit and enjoy the view of the exterior of the ship or the ocean maybe.

I lightened up the photo from Matt's blog so that we can make out the interior of the final state of the sphere before it was sent off on a barge to Mobimar Oy* (we assume).

Looking at this pic, I'm curious about all of the pipes inside. Kinda look like stainless steel pipes. Any possibility of this being a water feature? A water tunnel effect would be cool, but idk the shape is right for that.

Initially I was thinking it could be a "diving bell" type attraction, or a "water viewing" area that would mounted in the hull near the water line(could be at, below, or above really), but the shape doesn't really work for that I don't think.

Pipes... I don't know much about video / LED walls, but I assume that because they may produce a lot of heat, proper cooling and ventilation need to be part of the overall project.  856124599_RuslanasProsniakovas5.thumb.jpg.956c2468a96921d16ea7edf001cdc38c.jpg

LED walls require conduit. This type of piping does not look appropriate for an LED wall -- they'd separate energized and unenergized conduits running in parallel to one another (power & data), and they'd run from top to bottom, just a couple feet apart in width.

There seems to be two openings on opposite sides, with something that looks like stairs.

Maybe it has a staircase from one deck to another.

A walk through with LED artwork?

Speaking of staircases...

Is this one huge one on the right block?

I think that Lloyd is suggesting that with his amphitheater post...

This nice photo that was found online also had me thinking along those lines.

It looks more like a ramp than staircase (see how each of the three sections are curvy, concave like). And it’s above balcony cabins. Hmmm!

Another odd block. I'm hoping for a sharper photo.

Sure doesn’t look like anything we have seen before.
Edit

Is it my imagination or does the balcony deck below this thing look slanted ( little similar to suite deck on Wonder)?

It's an optical illusion. 😄
The are blocks with curved edges that make it look like the top of the block is sloped/slanted.
