Rare crusin7 Posted May 7, 2019 Author #76 Share Posted May 7, 2019 Gilly is right! Perfect weather and lots of sunshine. They told us that never happens during May. It is always extremely windy. We lucked out. The most striking thing about Dutch Harbor are the bald eagles flying everywhere. They are huge! Can’t load photos.. I’ll try later. Rare crusin7 Posted May 7, 2019 Author #78 Share Posted May 7, 2019 We just left Dutch Harbor. Hitchhiker Captain said it will be windy and to expect rough seas. Geez I thought we were done with that!
Rare Gilly Posted May 7, 2019 #79 Share Posted May 7, 2019 I was scared (I am frightened of birds, especially small fluttery ones and bats and butterflies too!) and though bigger birds like ducks and chickens are not usually so bad, there was something about these eagles that made them menacing. So, i took this one through glass from the Observation Lounge as we sailed away.
Rare crusin7 Posted May 7, 2019 Author #80 Share Posted May 7, 2019 Holy Smokes Gill that is fantastic! We had a very nice dinner in Prime 7. We all had the prime rib. It was excellent. Just starting to feel some movement on the ship. Hopefully not too bad.
Rare Gilly Posted May 7, 2019 #81 Share Posted May 7, 2019 I hope so too Chrisy. We were in P7 tonight also - dining a deux with my Hero 😉 - first time this cruise! The eagle shot was a no brainer as the daft thing sat there on the rail outside the Observation Lounge for so long, almost the whole ship had time to go and get their camera. I notice a few pics of eagles popping up here and there across the internet! Fingers crossed for smooth sailing.

Rare crusin7 Posted May 7, 2019 Author #84 Share Posted May 7, 2019 This morning the waves are 11 1/2 feet and we are rolling. Most unpleasant. I had to hang on during my shower. We came down to Coffee Connection hoping a lower floor will help. We arrive in Kodiak tomorrow.
Travelcat2 Posted May 7, 2019 #85 Share Posted May 7, 2019 Was the Coffee Connection better? One thing to be thankful for is that you are not on the Navigator. If Regent's most stable ship is so unpleasant, I can only imagine how bad the Navigator would be. Truly hope that things settle down. Not sure when you arrive in Vancouver but we (Washington state and Vancouver) are having a heatwave this week with temperatures getting to around 80 degrees by the end of the week. Rare crusin7 Posted May 7, 2019 Author #86 Share Posted May 7, 2019 Yes, it was better in Cafe. Seas are a tiny bit better. At his noon report Captain said it should get better late this afternoon into the evening. It’s cold and windy about 48°. But the sun is shining. Went to Bingo but had no luck. Ate lunch and off to the movies. We have a very busy schedule on sea days.
Rare crusin7 Posted May 8, 2019 Author #87 Share Posted May 8, 2019 The seas have calmed considerably. We had another excellent meal. I had the tri-color beet salad with goat cheese and truffle dressing. Delicious. They have run out of yellow and orange beets. Red is the only ones available. Jim had the cheese soufflé. It was wonderful. I had the lamb. It was mouth watering! Dessert was the floating island. I’m not crazy about meringue but I thought it was beautiful. It was actually very good.

Rare crusin7 Posted May 9, 2019 Author #91 Share Posted May 9, 2019 Today was awesome! We took the 2 hour wildlife boat tour. It was $250 and worth every penny. We saw sea lions, otters, horned puffins and orcas!

Rare Gilly Posted May 9, 2019 #95 Share Posted May 9, 2019 (edited) The weather was truly outstanding, wasn't it? How lucky we were. We did the 3.5 hour "Overview" and were delighted with our choice. Rare crusin7 Posted May 10, 2019 Author #97 Share Posted May 10, 2019 Thank you merlot. Today we are in Seward. The sun is out and it is gorgeous. I feel like I can almost touch the snow-capped mountains. We cruised the Kenai Fjords. We had many wildlife sightings. Orca
