COVE BALCONY & BREEZE ?

Hello,

Well, we just booked last week the Breeze for May 25th.  We needed two staterooms very close to one another as my elderly father in law will be coming along with us.  Our ONLY choice were two very aft cabins all the way down on deck 2 and one suite.  We always get regular balconies.  I have been on numerous cruises and never had a cabin on a low deck, people are telling me that we will feel alot of vibration from the engines.  My concern is my father in law who at times would have balance issues, so today, I signed online and noticed doing a dummy booking that some cove balconies opened up, I grabbed two of them, cabins 2441 and 2439.  We have some questions:

1-  These cabins are under the galley and would we be awaken during the night hearing noises above us from the galley?

2-  I am afraid of being so low seeing the water that low lol...I guess I can shut the curtains, but what do you like about cove balconies?

3-  Does anybody know what deck we board on and what deck we disembark on when we arrive back into Port Canaveral?

4-  I read the thermostat temperature on the Breeze is cooler much better is this true?

5-  Which dining room is the brunch at?

6-  How is the internet on this ship?

7-  We have E3 muster station anybody know where that will be?

I love the cove balconies, with the water seemingly at arm's reach.  If you have seasickness or related issues, then looking directly at the water might not be for you.  There is very little motion.  Also, you should know that they are more sheltered from the sun than "regular" balconies.

Okay, first calm down! I know you are nervous, but you are getting my anxiety up! Anyway, let's take this one step at a time:

1. I've heard the cabins under the galley are susceptible to noise at any time, but it won't be TOO bad at night, as there is no food cooked that late.

2. Look at some videos on YouTube, and see if those help you out. Yes, you can close the curtain to help with that problem.

3. In Port Canaveral, you board on Deck 3.

4.

5. Brunch is in the aft dining room on most Carnival ships.

6. Like almost all Carnival ships, eh ...

7.

Hello, I don't get seasick but I don't know if I am ok being out at sea looking at the water that close to my cabin, but I can shut the curtains and be all fine.  This will be my 91th cruise or 92 maybe....and I never been lower, usually get the empress or verandah deck on carnival ships.  The very little motion is perfect the reason why I changed for my father in law so that is good news.  I also figured, our cabins are near the beginning of the aft part of the galley so probably not much noise but if I were to keep the other two cabins surely there be great motion/vibration so that would keep me up anyways, so cove would be better even under the galley.😊

However, there is a lot of cleaning and prepping for the next day. What I've read here on CC is that the aft area of the galley can be quite noisy at night. We always book Coves forward, under atrium or the front of the forward dining room.

Been in a Cove balcony on The Dream.  Was not under the galley and we did not hear a sound.

LOVED IT.  Would never book any thing else if one is available.  We have had a an aft-wrap, but I prefer a Cove. I really enjoyed being so close to the sea in a Cove.

The Cove cabins closer to the front seemed to be getting more spray in rough seas making them a wet place to be.

There have been many complaints by people under the galley, so if you book one of those expect noise. Unless you are a light sleeper I would book it anyway.

We began booking cove balconies a few years ago based on a recommendation that we received from one of my wife's clients.

We only book forward Cove Balconies so there is never galley noise.

My wife loves being close to the water - I prefer higher balconies but "happy wife, happy life".

You might not like the visibility when sitting down (see photo)

Now I am more scared looking at that photo....last week we booked the Breeze for next month, needed two balcony cabins, the only thing available were cove balconies, and dreading being all near the water, but thank goodness for curtains lol.

Maybe you should just cancel then.

I can't change cabins, our cabins is comp by the casino.  This will be my 91/92 cruise so far and not afraid of a ship obviously just don't want to be way down on the bottom of the ship and close to the water but the way I see it there are curtains and being in any cabin is better than not being on a ship.

How much do "comp'd" cruises actually cost?   I keep reading about them, but find no really useful info?

Are they secret?    I don't really care just curious?   I pay for my cruises!😎

Because of the angle of that photo, the water looks closer to me than it actually is. We had two cove balconies several years ago on the Breeze. We loved them and they would be our first choice on a ship with coves in the future. But we weren't under the galley, so I can't speak to that.

Hey--it's a free cruise. How bad can it be? 😉

Jwjax- I have paid for 81 out of my soon to be 92nd cruise.  When I get a comp cruise, its not free, I still have to pay for dining at the steakhouse every night and for the drink and internet package and all the extra tips we give to the bartenders, so when I say a free cruise, it just means the cabin is comp.  They certainly are no secret at all.

Momof3cruisers- Hello, that makes sense the angle of the photo makes the water appear to be closer to the cove cabin....your right, a free cruise isn't bad at all, actually, I was impressed how they actually gave us a balcony when in fact many just get interiors and Oceanview rooms. I am very happy to get rid of the two cabins we were stuck in which were 2473 and 2495, I take the cove balcony in a heartbeat.  The two original cabins we had sure would be a lot of vibration back there from he ships engines I think.

Seriously? You say it like its a negative thing. 99% of CC members would love to get "just a comp cabin", as most of us have to pay for drinks, specialty dining, tips and more as well!

I often wondered about the cove balconies.  Great picture Steve551.  I would prefer the upper decks so I can see more out in the distance.

I love cove balconies! Here’s mine from the Dream last year. In 2016, we were directly under the galley. There was noise early mornings but it wasn’t a dealbreaker and I am a very light sleeper.

No the chairs do not recline.

On a comp cruise I pay for the drink package, even though I have the drinks on us cards, we are only allowed to get drinks in the casino and don't want to be limited to one place in getting our drinks plus the casino is closed during port days.  We also pay for the steakhouse each night as well as the having internet.  So its not exactly comp, only the cruise fare is which is great thanks to Carnival casino.

I was thinking a comp'd cruise was pretty much free?      So, all the noise about it being "free" is just noise.     The cabin is free....everything else, you still pay for....dearly!😎

Well, quite honestly, a comp cruise is great, because you do not have to pay for two people in the cabin....our upcoming cruise on the Breeze the actual cost for two people in a cove balcony would be $2615 so that is comp, free.  Depending upon which casino offer you have also gives you other benefits.

There are a number of casino ffers

Dealers Choice generally gives my other half a discounted priced cabin, 1k in casino cash and they give you a list of cruises that offer this program

Exclusive casino rates gives you a very inexpensive cost for your cabin plus 500-1k casino cash, priority boarding

Premier Cruises give a free interior cabin we upgraded to the cove balcony for just $220,  my other half will get $500 cash andwe both get gifts in our cabin each night (champagne, wine, chocolate covered strawberries, beach towel, lanyards, tumblers, cookies, etc). we also get other things such as dinner at the steakhouse and tournaments and drawings for cash prizes plus spa treatments, shipboard credit, etc.  We also both get the drinks on us car and invitation to cocktail parties.

Ultra Cruises give what the premier cruise gives but give you a balcony cabin comp, free shore excursion, priority boarding, comp parking at the port or a private car service to and from the airport.

Supposedly they added for the premier cruises a comp gift and a goodbye gift and priority debarkation.

So it is worth getting these offers because on my next cruise I only had to pay the taxes fees and upgrade to the cove balcony and only cost us $600.

I wish they did give us a discount to the cheers package, the drinks on us card is only to be used in the casino, and when your docked at ports the casino is closed so we still have to pay for the drink package, and most of the nights at the steakhouse and the internet package, but heck, we saved $2k!
