Rio de Janiero hotel day room or ? before very late flight to UK

Our ship docks early and our flight back to UK is not until 11.30pm, so obviously we don't want to wait at the airport all day or carry our luggage around Rio all day. Any suggestions re somewhere secure to leave our luggage (1 big case and 2 hand luggage) or a day hotel room please so we can make the most of our last day in Rio? What have other people done?

We were in Rio last year and had the same problem, so hired a private guide with a driver for the day. We were picked up from the dock, and delivered to the airport. Very good day of touring, a lot cheaper than the ship tours, but that's not hard. Guide took us to various places after being dropped off by the driver. While he stayed with our luggage in the car.
