deebaxster Posted May 14, 2019 #1 Share Posted May 14, 2019 Hello - Is it do-able to leave our luggage with RCCL at the ship in port (San Juan), then continue touring the city? Our Set Sail Pass indicates 12:30-7:00pm as the check in time. Sail away is 8pm . For example, leave our bags around 1pm, tour San Juan, and then return and actually board Freedom of the Seas around 5pm. Thanks for your guidance! awestover89 Posted May 14, 2019 #2 Share Posted May 14, 2019 Typically that's no problem. We did it in Singapore at least. Do note though that the departure port in San Juan isn't the same as the port cruise ships come into for a day trip, and there isn't much near the Pan American Pier. You'll need a taxi or other form of transportation to get to and from the pier to anything worth seeing.
cindivan Posted May 14, 2019 #3 Share Posted May 14, 2019 I can’t see an issue as far as RC is concerned. DH and his family all dropped of their bags a few years back and went to a local sports bar to watch their team. Barely made it to the ship in time for sailing but their bags got to us no problems. I don’t know how RC would have any idea who boarded with their luggage or not.

You can leave your bags as early as 10:30-11:00am at the curbside luggage checkin for Freedom at the Pan American pier..Absolutely no reason to feel the need to wait any later .... that gives you more time to take a taxi back into town. Enjoy Freedom we were just on her for a B2B last September.
cruiseguy1016 Posted May 14, 2019 #5 Share Posted May 14, 2019 Another thing you can do is check in early and get that out of the way. Once you are checked in you can head out to do your sightseeing. When you get back to the ship you'll be checked in already. Scan your Seapass an get on the ship.
Iamcruzin Posted May 14, 2019 #6 Share Posted May 14, 2019 One of the reasons that we like embarking in San Juan is the late departure. Check in early and enjoy most of the day in San Juan or there were times where we just left our luggage with the concierge at the hotel we were staying at and either enjoyed the pool area or went sight seeing and checked in on the ship after the main rush. No need for the Key or Star class as the terminal was vacant.
deebaxster Posted May 14, 2019 Author #7 Share Posted May 14, 2019 Ok, got it. Thanks to all who commented. We will go ahead with our plan, but probably leave bags at curbside check in around 10:30.
