Are "connecting rooms" a noise issue?

Recommended Posts

We’ve had them in the past without a problem but the last time we had one had issues with dreadfully noisy neighbours late at night going into the early hours of the morning.

We put up with it for two nights on the third night called guest services they sent security up to the problem stateroom and sorted it out in about two minutes.

Guest services called the next day to check everything was now ok and to inform them if we had another problem with them.

I am pleased to say we had no further complaints.

First, adjoining and connecting are two different things.

Adjoining are side by side.  ALL cabins have adjoining cabins.

Connecting cabins means there is a door connecting the two cabins.

We have had a connecting cabin for the last 3 cruises and have never had any extra noise.  But that may be partially a function of the cabin class.  We are further away from the connection door, and do not typically have kids next door.

Last year on Oasis, I was in one of the owners suites that had a connection with the room next door. If I had been in a regular room and not able to get away from that door, it would have been a very poor time for my daughter and I. It was a couple that had relationship problems and they screamed at each other the whole week. It was like I was in the room with them. 😕 Lots of cursing, storming out and letting the door slam, loud discussions about their intimacy issues...in extreme detail. I had second hand embarrassment since I assume they probably didn't realize how clearly I could hear them. With that suite the bed is on the other side of the room and I took a noise machine so it didn't affect us too much. I remember they had a company magnet on their door as well, I believe they were the owners.
