Getaway-New Room Cards?

Will we still be able to punch a hole in our room/key card on the Getaway in December? I heard that was not the case anymore.

If they upgrade the ship to contact-less cards/readers the cards can't be punched.  That would require replacing the readers on every stateroom.

The new cards can't be punched, however, you can buy holders which don't require a hole in the card.  I have a clear plastic "pouch" which allows me to put my card, and my schedule (folded) inside.

I was just on the getaway after the dry dock and you could punch the cards?

Presumably it would mean that all reading of cards would be done without having to swipe the card anymore.  It would be like the hand held credit card readers that some countries have!!
