Internet on Celebrity Constellation

Question --- has anyone used the internet package on Celebrity? We never buy it and are interested in getting it this time to be in touch with our family for personal reasons, but only if the experience has been good for others. Is it really high speed? Do we have access to it all the time? The package price is steep about 172 gbp for one device

Question 2 - would it be better to get an international plan instead with our cell phone carrier --> Verizon? Has anyone done this and how was the signal when on the cruise ship?

Thanks!

We sailed Connie last in 2016 and at that time found the internet adequate for checking emails, voice over internet calling. It certainly doesn't approach the speed of my home FIOS, but it was okay. You'll have access all the time and you can use multiple devices, but only one can be logged in at a time. We were able to get service in our midship cabin, but did find it a bit slower mid afternoon, especially sea days. Some areas have been reported better that others, but it is most certainly adequate for keeping in touch with family.

We get an unlimited plan from Verizon that we use for $10 a day in port. The ship uses ATT, so we haven't used the International plan. Try calling Verizon and let them know when you'll be out of the country, what ports you'll visit and the dates and they'll advise you well.

We never get an internet plan while on a cruise but that is because we cruise in the European area that is port intensive and there are plenty of places such as internet cafes etc to get on-line. The frustrations with ship internet just does not appeal.

Be very careful if using mobile data roaming. It's fine in port, but when you're at sea you'll be charged  according to the ship's phone service rates, not your plan. You can run up a big bill very quickly that way.

Always turn off mobile data on your phone when not using it.

We sailed on the Constellation between Rome and Barcelona earlier this month. We had a one-device internet package and found it very good. It was fine for email, web browsing and Whatsapp voice calls. We did not use it for movies or music or Youtube.

It is expensive.

We are on the Constellation right now, on a cruise from Venice to Venice, via Croatia and Greece.

We have the internet package for one device, for the exact purpose of staying connected to our children, family and friends.

For the most part, the internet worked well, allowing us to post pictures, browse, check Facebook etc. The speed varied from time to time, (sometimes a bit slow), but, overall,  we’re very satisfied with the service.

Enjoy your cruise!

We have Verizon and last summer used their 40 dollar a month plan. Just be aware that it does not work on the ship. For that, you need to buy the ship package. So we looked for internet coverage on land. For a lot of Europe I am sure it will work fine - either the Verizon 40 dollar plan or the 10 dollar a day plan.

We are regular Celebrity cruisers (7 cruises in the past year if I am counting right).  We always use internet.  The quality varies by cruise, and by the location of your cabin.  Usually it is decent, and sometimes very good.  Have even had some luck streaming video but that is not often the case for us.
