Traveling during a Quince Cruise - Bad idea?

Recommended Posts

It's no worse than a bunch of spring break college students. They are 15, in prom-style dresses, and they are celebrating. If you're turned off by people having a party, ok I guess. I wouldn't worry about it because I'll be in the bars, and a bunch of 15 year olds are unlikely to bother me there.

We were on an Allure sailing when there were about 10 girls celebrating their quince two summers ago, and that too was an August sailing.

We had no trouble avoiding crowded spaces.

Except on formal night when you could not get near a photographer on the promenade.  But we survived.

The girls I must say were beautiful in their gowns.  They were excited.

We just avoided the situation that night did a show and went to the casino.

Safe travels.

First cruise ever was a quince cruise on enchantment, made us uncomfortable most of the time, had never even heard of the tradition before this and I couldn't figure out why in the world all these young teen strippers (sorry but that is the only other time I have seen females dress like that) would be on a cruise ship. My wife explained it to me and I was still confused. How could a culture support this behavior and lewdness from such young ladies. Obviously something that has evolved far from what the initial intention of the celebration was. Luckily we had a fantastic time, being our first ever time on a cruise and being in such awe of the cruising experience itself. avoid ladies rooms, you could wait hours, look straight at the floor at all times, do not look up! you aren't supposed to see that.

Enjoy your cruise, escape the crowds as much as you can and feel free to raise your eyes out the window and enjoy the ocean views!

I rather enjoyed my time on one of our cruises that was a "Quince" cruise.

All those beautiful young ladies all dressed up. The doting fathers.

Of course the language coming from some of the young ladies complaining about their shoes and the dresses would have made a sailor blush.....

I enjoyed my brief introduction to a new culture. I had never experienced or heard of this tradition.

THIS.  Anyone who has ever attended a quinceañera knows what a great occasion it is.  I'd question that a bunch of 15 years olds partying at a quince would be any noisier than a a bunch of 15 year olds partying for anything else.  And if you're there & friendly... don't be surprised if you get sucked into the festivities as extended family & friends!  In my experience, there's always room for honorary tios, abuelos, and primas! 🥂

DISCLAIMER: originally from Miami, have lived in Texas and New Mexico for >35 years total.

I am on this sailing that the original poster stated and I am not concerned at all about this being a Quince cruise. Most quince sailings occur on the larger ships during the summer. It will probably be a small percentage on what will likely be over 6,000 people on board. This sailing will have so much children besides these young ladies as most summer sailings do that I just can't put blame on the quince group making this a bad sailing. I will make the most of this cruise and enjoy myself with my family and friends just like the other groups will enjoy themselves like the quince group, all the family reunion groups onboard as well as the smaller families who can only sail with their group during the summer time.

While DW & I were waiting to board our first cruise (on Oasis), I noticed a number of families (4-5?) with racks of dresses and lots of (presumably) family members.  It didn't take long to guess they were celebrating Quinces.

The next time we noticed the group, we were getting off the ship at Ft. Lauderdale.  Were there a bunch of people on board?  Yes.  Did many of them seem to be in the "middle teen" age range?  Yes.  Were they any more disruptive than any other age group?  Nope.

At this point, there's nothing you can do about it, so why worry?

@QueenofKrakatoa These children are not simply wearing mini skirts and tank tops. They are showing cleavage, underboob, side boob, wearing see through articles of clothing and showing butt cheeks. I am not referring to their swimwear either. This is what they wear to meals, excursions, to the buffet. When a parent allows a child to wear clothing that shows what should be left covered and others comment on it, that does not make one a pedophile or a weirdo.

Listen, I've been on a Quince cruise, when I was on the Allure last year. None of the girls were "showing cleavage" or sideboob or whatever. Their shorts were normal. Comments like this absolutely do make you pedophilic, REGARDLESS of what they're wearing. They could be naked. It doesn't matter. You make a sexual comment comparing them to strippers, it's pedophilic. Case closed.

Wow. This thread went in a direction that I didn't expect.

Thanks to those who responded to my question.

First of all, go and enjoy your cruise.  It might be interesting to see the young girls dressed up.  As large as the ship is, I doubt you will have any problems.  If you come across any problems, just turn and walk away.

You have a Central park balcony cabin, as someone mentioned, This area will probably be boring to the crowd because it is nice and quiet not what the girls are looking for.

Please come back after the cruise and  give us a review. Again, do not start your cruise by expecting to have a terrible time, go and enjoy.
