OBC use in casino

I believe I've read on CC that non-refundable OBC, such as one receives from NCL, may not be used in the casino. However, I recall reading here in the past that there are ways (wink wink) to get around this situation. Can anyone enlighten me as to how to use NCL or other non-refundable OBC in the casino?

I have read the same thing, but always been able to use our credits, refundable or non refundable.

Unless you ONLY have casino charges and no other on board items on your on board account, you have no way to know which items your OBC was applied to.  In fact you don't ever specifically use your OBC anywhere.  You make your purchases on the ship and NCL applies the OBC on a daily basis to applicable charges.

I only have non-refundable OBC from NCL credit card points,  but the last night I get an accurate printout of OBC left and hightail it to a slot machine and play that amount, but then I just cash it out with a 3% loss and take it home.

I have 100 dollars OBC which I would struggle to use. Are you saying I can get a print out from guest services on the last night then take that to the cashier in the casino and cash out , less a 3% charge.

as I said, u get the exact amount available,  and I dont spend anymore money, so I go to a Slot machine and I extract the amount to play, but instead I Cashout and go to machine with voucher.  U could get the money from cashier, they take out 3% that was charged to card on file.  I also prepay my service charges so I always leave with a Zero balance, just my cash!!!

You use your cabin card - you put it in the slot machine (note you might have to go to the cashier and get a pin #).  Then you follow the prompts on any slot machine to add money (I think it is confusing the first time) to your players account which has 3% deducted and then you transfer  it to the machine.  Cash out - take ticket to cashier - and there you go!

If your OBC is from NCL credit card points, it is REFUNDABLE.  You don't even need to lose the 3% - NCL would give it back to you in full!

People are confusing refundable and NON-refundable OBC.  Any casino withdrawal will post to your account and will NOT be offset by any NON-refundable credit you have on your account (but the 3% convenience fee WOULD be offset by the non-refundable OBC.)

 

Use the OBC to buy gifts for future birthday presents, etc. in the gift shop - or buy liquor to take home.  If you need more ideas on how to spend $100 on the ship, I have lots just let me know!

great ideas, but I prefer actually cruising and using obc, then bringing home the rest, its a winwin!

Actually, my suggestions were directed to JOHNHOWARTH2 who posted that he has $100 OBC that he would struggle to use.  Sorry for any confusion!

And you just charged money to your on board account, you did not specifically use OBC.  If you have unused REFUNDABLE OBC it might be used to offset the charge.

I don't know anyone named "U" and why would I give him my money?  Anyway, your plan MIGHT work as long as that is refundable OBC.  Otherwise you just added more charges to your account.

Nonrefundable OBC will not be used to offset casino charges (other than MAYBE the 3% fee).  So all you are doing is increasing your final account balance.

Has NCL changed policy regarding Non Refundable OBC?  We have been able to extract cash from casino in the past this way. Have they “blocked” casino charges from being applied to Non Refundable OBC now?

FOR GOODNESS SAKE - NON-REFUNDABLE OBC CAN BE USED IN THE SLOT MACHINES!  I HAVE DONE IT COUNTLESS TIMES.

Yes, I have too... OBC that was given with the cruise booking.  However on a cruise this May, I purchased a cruise next certificate.  Guest services told me the OBC you get from cruise next could not be used in the casino.  I did not test what guest services said.. I ended up using it for onboard purchases.  But I certainly believe it would be easy enough for them to block using that OBC.  They figure people will load the money (less the 3%) to the slot machine, and then just cash it out.

When I purchased 4 cruise next certificates - my account was charged $1,000 and a credit was applied for $500.  So my feeling is that is why you were told it couldn't be used to play the slot machines!  Does this make sense?  In other words you are charged the $250 per certificate but immediate given the credit - obc why they call it that is beyond me - you buy 1 certificate or 2 or 4. Example 2 certificates you are charged $500 and given a $250 credit.

You really do not understand OBC and are confusing the issue for people.  You may THINK you have used NON-refundable OBC for cash from the casino, but trust me -  you have NOT.  Unless you have an NCL onboard folio to prove what you are saying, please stop spreading misinformation.  Either the "non-refundable credit" you think you used was actually REFUNDABLE OBC or you are just confused.

If I am wrong then I apologize - I use my non-refundable NCL obc stock credit (usually $100 for a 7 day sailing) and I use my Latitudes non-refundable obc credit to play the slots with).  I am not going to post my final bill but rest assured if I owed money I would know this and I do know I have to pay the DSC as the non-refundable obc cannot be used for the DSC but absolutely can be used to play the slots.    If I am spreading misinformation I am sorry.

You have no idea which line chargrs were offset by your non-refundable OBC.  I can assure you that it was NOT Casino cash advances.

The OBC for a CN voucher is fully refundable.  But cannot specifically use any OBC to offset a specific charge to your acocunt.  Can you imagine the nightmares at guest services.

Still unsure. In Post 16 above, ddlb clearly states it can be used while in post 9 Pcakes 122 says absolutely not. Finally, in post 22 tokidoki says they definitely did so just last month. My OBC is the result of $50 pp booking award from NCL plus $100 for being a latitudes cruise and another $100 for using 2 CruiseNext certificates. All clearly non-refundable OBC. I would hate to  download $300 on my ship card in the casino and cash out the machine ticket for cash at the casino cashier, only to get my final bill with a $300 charge on my credit card and still have $300 OBC which I would lose. Thoughts? WWYD (what would you do?)
