There is no tried and true answer, it can be different depending on the date meaning how full the resort is. I've had times where a room was ready when we arrived, other times we had to wait an hour or two, you just don't know. The resort will handle your bags if you need to wait for your room. Remember there is a whole other group of people who may have stayed the night before getting ready for embarkation on the same ship or another. The IC can be a busy place especially when there are multiple ships in port.

The staff at the IC is very accommodating and if possible will have a room ready for you.

You can always go hang at the pool, grab a foo foo drink and relax 😉

Update ….. no day rooms at the IC Tahiti unless your cruise line has an agreement and then you must book it through the cruise line. Only other way is to book a room direct for a 24 hour day but there is no guarantee to have a room in the morning, you might not get until 3pm.

Thanks for the update TBK, unfortunately not the news we wanted to hear. We are attempting to book our own air ( possibly on points ) for a PG cruise and after departing the ship would prefer a day room prior to the long journey home. Not interested in renting a car etc. The day room quote at I.C. without air is sooooo expensive through PG. We may have to reconsider the air pkg  depending on the total cost  .

If you're not interested in a "car etc." then this might not hold appeal for you. But throwing it out there anyway. The last day after a Windstar cruise last winter we stayed at an Airbnb. It was wonderful. The owner picked us up at the port, took us to a market to get food and we hung out at her lovely pool with view of Moorea all day. Then in the evening she took us to the airport. Not the freedom of staying at the IC but quite nice at a fraction of the price.

Wow thank you so much Petoonya, was it hard to find the Airbnb ?  Great suggestion and much appreciated

No not hard to find at all. Here's where we stayed....https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/3954269?euid=d57cbd47-f61c-7ce7-624a-6e13117ae1df&source_impression_id=p3_1562368685_e0Q6gMnXsVl9BGKA

Not bad for $56! Not fancy but did the trick for a day stay. Owners are very sweet young couple who did the airport drop off for 1000XPF. Our ship got in at 8am and since the room rents from 3pm on, they let us use the pool, covered patio, kitchen and BR when we arrived in the morning in the interim. We hardly used it anyway except to shower before we left for the airport about 9pm.

There are a lot more places on Airbnb if you'd like something more upscale or this little place is not available on your date. The properties appear in French but you have the option to translate. Nice way to see how  people live there too. Hope it works out for you 🙂
