Best place to buy yarn

We are on a British Isles cruise with stops at Guernsey, Cobh, Dublin, Belfast, Invergordon, Kirkwall, and Edinburgh. I would like to buy some yarn for gifts, but the last time we were at the wool store (near Blarney Castle) I thought the items were priced for tourists. Can anyone suggest stores that might have yarn at a more moderate price?

There's a craft store, I can't recall the name, but it's on Queen St in Belfast next to Belfast Underground Records that should have what you are looking for at reasonable (local) prices.

If you want proper 5-ply Guernsey wool/yarn (or just about any other wool you can think of) from Guernsey then you must go to Stitches, Guernsey. They are on South Quay, just by the harbour.

But the harbour in St Sampson, not St Peter Port where cruise ships dock. A few miles up the coast.

Damn - just shows that one should not assume. My wife bought some wooll while we were in Guernsey (in 2010) and I thought that it must have been there. Maybe they moved...?
