Anchorage

If it’s the Coast International, there aren’t many restaurants in the area.  There’s Piper’s in the hotel with an outdoor patio. About a 5 minute walk away is the Lakefront Hotel which has a couple of restaurants. The Deck at Lake Hood is a bar/restaurant at the Lakefront which is a nice place to watch the float planes come and go on the world’s busiest seaplane base.

If you have a car the downtown area with many restaurants is about 4 miles away.

Not sure what "near" means to you. We stayed at the Lakefront Anchorage on Lake Spenard and ate at Simon & Seafort's on 420 L Street. About 3 miles as the crow flies. Fresh caught Copper River Salmon from the 1st run of the season!! Great view across Knik Arm to 11,000' Mt. Spurr 80 miles west. Currently dormant but with recent eruptions in 1953 and 1992 with ash deposits in Anchorage. If some small trees had not been blocking our view, we may have been able to see Denali 130 miles to the NW. The parking is a bit odd since the restaurant is in an office building. The covered parking building is in a high rise just east one block. It was easy in and out and Simon & Seafort's validated our ticket, so no charge. IMHO, it would be worth a cab or Uber ride.
