Free Wifi through Hawaiian Islands

A relative is sailing the Hawaiian Islands on the Norwegian Pride of America next month and is not going to buy the wifi package on board. Does anyone have information on free wifi spots at the various ports on the islands? Is there free wifi on the pier or nearby? Any information is appreciated. Thank you.

Have your relative ask the crew members, as they are in each port every week and would have current information on that.

Some of the same spots as at home....McDonalds, Starbucks, etc.

 

Otherwise not much free, but occasionally...may have to buy a beer or cup of coffee.

 

Spending thousands on a cruise and airfare, but nothing on a phone or internet plan that would get your relative internet?

We traveled this month on POA. We managed to get free WiFi off the ship at every port without even looking for it. Generally coffee shops or even in a Macy’s store. We only had to go to MacDonald’s once as we had no trouble finding it. Even the office where we were waiting to take a helicopter flight had good strong WiFi - so much so, my son asked if we could drive back there the next day and sit outside in the hire car for 10 minutes to “borrow” their WiFi to download a podcast! We had no trouble at all. 

 

The wifi on the ship is exorbitant and not that great anyway, it’s a much more cost effective way to buy a coffee, or meal (or helicopter ride 😂) and use the WiFi for free. 

 

We had a lot of minutes included in our package  but the only thing the WiFi was really good for was social media and email. Anything else was a bit slow hence looking for better WiFi in ports.

WiFi is everyplace you'd find it on the mainland. The only problem on the BI and Kauai is once you leave civilization, it gets thready.

Thanks for your suggestions. They ended up opting for the ship social media package. It worked pretty well for what they needed.
