SallyStrawberry Posted July 28, 2019 #1 Share Posted July 28, 2019 We're sailing from Hong Kong to Singapore on the NCL Jade at the end of January 2020. I'm looking for hotel recommendations for a two night stay before the cruise. We'd like to be near the cruise terminal, I'm not sure what area that is. Thanks for any help. BruceMuzz Posted July 28, 2019 #2 Share Posted July 28, 2019 Sally, There are two main cruise line terminals in Hong Kong - and a few others that are occasionally used by cruise ships. You first need to determine if your ship will be at Ocean Terminal in Tsim Sha Tsui or at Kai Tak. If you are at Ocean Terminal, there are many hotels nearby - one even in the terminal. If you are at Kai Tak Terminal, there are no hotels in the immediate vicinity. You would need to taxi either to TST or the Island.
Rare mking8288 Posted July 29, 2019 #3 Share Posted July 29, 2019 (edited) According to KTCT's posted 2020 cruise ship schedule, OP's Jade sailing will be docked there, where most bigger/mega ships are berthed. Good old Ocean Terminal since the 1960's are for smaller ships. http://www.kaitakcruiseterminal.com.hk/schedule/2020-2/ Above link provides access to a wide of helpful & useful visitors, tourists & cruise info. There are a # of newer hotels near KT and by the local multi-use shopping malls typically situated above the MTR (subway train) stations, which is fine for an overnight stay if flying in late. Personally, I don't recommend them for a first time tourists planning to sightsee around town. HK has one of the best & efficient public transit system, well integrated with bilingual/multi-lingual signage. There are much better choices of hotels in the TST tourist area, easy walking distance from Ocean Terminal, reachable by MTR lines and also not far from the Airport Express train with free connection services to area hotels - in assorted price ranges - on different routes at its Kowloon & H.K. side stations. From nearly all Kowloon hotels used/chosen by most cruise ship passengers, it's a 15 to 25 minutes easy taxi ride to KTCT, about $15 USD in metered fares - please have & paid in local HKD (currencies). Rare Miaminice Posted July 29, 2019 #4 Share Posted July 29, 2019 Jewel will be docked at Kai Tak as mentioned above. But you don´t want to stay in that area because you are away from everything else. My recommendation: The Kowloon Hotel - great central location, reasonable rates. Then Uber or taxi to the cruise port. It´s around 25 USD.

Rare OzKiwiJJ Posted August 4, 2019 #6 Share Posted August 4, 2019 I recommend the Salisbury Hotel in Tsim Sha Tsui. It's run by the YMCA but operates as a normal hotel (without bars). It's in a great location, next to the Peninsula Hotel, with a MRT subway entrance outside the side entrance to the hotel, and is only two blocks to the Star Ferry. The rooms are small but clean and comfortable and some have fantastic views over the harbour. The hotel restaurant does a good breakfast.
edinburgher Posted August 4, 2019 #7 Share Posted August 4, 2019 We have stayed in hotels on and close to Nathan Road in TST. There are many hotels there in various price brackets. As others have said, they are convenient for transport and sightseeing, and on our most recent visit when we were docked at the new terminal for the first time, it was a short and inexpensive taxi ride to the cruise terminal. There are also public buses running to the TST waterfront along Nathan Road so not always necessary to have a MRT station really close, and some are within a few minutes walk of the waterfront.
