suekel Posted July 28, 2019 #1 Share Posted July 28, 2019 Sailing on the Star soon. We are in Victoria from 7pm-11:59 pm. Does luggage need to be put out before getting off the ship? I like the casino. Normally, one has to cash out before midnight. Will they have us cash out before we dock in Victoria? I know this will all be answered in the Patter but I'm curious. Rare Jeter02 Posted July 28, 2019 #2 Share Posted July 28, 2019 usually in the patter it says that you can put your luggage outside of your cabin no later than 10 p.m. in the evening. or if you choose to just take your own luggage off the ship when you disembark they don't have to worry about putting it out that's up to you. Just make sure if you do leave your luggage the night before out to have a bag with all your necessities. casinos will be closed before it docks in victorious and make sure you are definitely cashed out by then. As always even like you mentioned just triple check with the patter on all information
Rare CynCyn Posted July 29, 2019 #3 Share Posted July 29, 2019 The stores also close too (and most of the bars).Missed getting Stanley Bear nesting dolls because I thought they would be open.
bluedevil72 Posted July 29, 2019 #4 Share Posted July 29, 2019 We were on the Ruby two weeks ago and were also in Victoria for the same period of time. We were on a cruise excursion from the time we got there until 10:30 ish. We were also told to have our luggage out in the hall before 11:00 but we didn’t get our luggage tags until after we left as we were using Port Valet and couldn’t be checked in for our flight until 8:00. We got it all in the hall by about 11:10. A room steward walked by about that time and we heard him say quietly to himself “ it’s too late.” That worried us a little so I went to Guest Services and were told it was fine, it was probably just too late for him. She said they would actually be picking up luggage until 1:00 or 2:00 in the morning. We didn’t see it again until we got to Dallas the next night. We have late traditional dining at 7:15. Do you know how they handle that?

satxdiver Posted July 29, 2019 #7 Share Posted July 29, 2019 They made all MDR ATD for that night. We had TD and it came as a surprise when we arrived at the MDR and we had to wait for a table. We put our luggage out before we went downtown Victoria.

BigGuy25 Posted July 29, 2019 #9 Share Posted July 29, 2019 While they’d like the luggage out earlier, they know people are on shore. You can put it out when you get back. Even when it’s not a late departure, they always do a late night “sweep” of the ship to gather the last minute bags.

Does that work if you do the Port Valet service also?
Fire6 Posted August 5, 2019 #11 Share Posted August 5, 2019 We were on Star two weeks ago. The Patter asked for at least partial luggage out "before dinner" but we missed that bit of information (the Princess Patter has so many advertisements in it that it's a bit of a challenge to find the important stuff). We ended up putting all of our luggage out before we went ashore around 8:30 and it was still there when we went to bed around 11 (but gone the next morning). RRFan Posted August 5, 2019 #12 Share Posted August 5, 2019 (edited) I've never seen luggage sitting out on disembarkation morning. I suspect they will get it as late as you put it out. Edited August 5, 2019 by RRFan

If you don't mind, I have some questions for you.. How long does it take to get off the ship? Are there cabs waiting at the pier if you don't want to do the shuttle? Were there pedicabs available for hire? Thanks

Thanks In Seattle they've got it done pretty good, it doesn't take very long to get off the ship once customs gives the OK. We live in the Seattle area and we normally get off the ship around 8:30. If you don't have any luggage you can walk off, they are the first folks off. Yes there will be lots of cabs available, just outside the front of the terminal and to the left. We plan on taking advantage of the Seattle port luggage service so customs there should be pretty easy.

They start letting people off at around 7:15 and it moves pretty fast, get down to the disembarkation point early to get a place in line, it's crazy. Customs in Victoria just kind of stands there and watches everyone. I would have my travel documents handy, I've never had to show them. Coming back on to the pier you'll need to show your cruise card to get back on the pier.

Our experience a few years ago: It was not only Anytime Dining for all, it was also Anything Goes dress code on Victoria night. I'm not a dress code fanatic, but I was not prepared for the guy seated next to me in the MDR wearing tank top and baggy camo board shorts. Did it ruin my dinner? Only if I let my eyes drift to the left. Just kidding, but you get the idea. Jim
satxdiver Posted August 6, 2019 #19 Share Posted August 6, 2019 Victoria is usually the last night on the ship so the usual dress code for that night is as usual - anything goes including shorts etc.
