POA Port or Starboard

If they plan to lower and test lifeboats while in port (done from time to time), which side they plan to do this for will determine which side of the ship is facing the pier.  Because of that, people can say it was tied up on a certain side but it could differ when you sail.

A lot of ifs ands or something else here:

In sailing around the islands you are far enough out to sea/ocean that seeing sandy beaches forget it -

see waves crashing on beaches and surfers ditto.

Maybe with binoculars or telephoto camera lens.

Two routes of interest always spark a discussion -

The lava flow on the Big Island - well if it is real big noisy fuming gassy NCL is not going there but if

the POA does a sail by it would be on starboard side.

The cliffs of Na Pali on the island of Kauai - the closest side would be port at first then the ship

reverses course and the starboard would have a view but further out to sea.

When on board check with Guest Services for hints of the best viewing - invariably the top deck

of the ship is the place - in a balcony cabin you can sit and see one side of the action.

Aft balcony cabins maybe the best overall.

The travel between island ports is done mostly at night except for that Na Pali cliff passage the

last day of the cruise - day time the POA is at pier or tendering and activity is centered on shore excursions.

The port stop at Kona on the Big Island is a tender operation.

Of recent two tropical storms may play a part in just how close the photo opts will be and the route

cruised to stay out of harms way.
