SRF Posted August 17, 2019 #51 Share Posted August 17, 2019 I have never heard of a Navy ship being at sea a full 8 months. If no other reason, maintenance issues. Not saying it did not happen, just saying never heard of it. And in port, you would get liberty, which is not charged as leave.

Still looking at Indy on 26th Sept. A month ago there was 270+ cabins available and these hardly moved over last four weeks. Then over night, last night they dropped capacity by 20+. Still over 200 rooms available but wonder why the sudden drop in capacity (rate has actually gone up last 24 hours). Wondered if it was being offered to crew families at knock down rate? Our nephew was first officer on Allure. We flew to Florida not knowing if we even had a room. We sat in the boarding area with other family members waiting to see if we would get a room assignment. We ended up getting an accessible OV room for just under $800 for the both of us. The people that had booked the room were no-shows. If we hadn't actually gotten on the ship, we would have just spent a week in Florida enjoying the sun! Once on board, our cards had a special sticker on them and we were allowed to walk into any show or restaurant without a reservation. In St Thomas, we were invited to the bridge for sail away and to meet the Captain.
