lmmphilly Posted August 19, 2019 #1 Share Posted August 19, 2019 Hi all, we are traveling in a couple weeks on the Mariner of the Seas, are very seasoned cruisers, but first on Royal. would it be alright for the kids to be in Dress shorts and shorts for dinner? We are all dressing up in pants for our formal, but the causal nights, is this a problem? They are 18mo and 4 years old. It's been many years since we've traveled with young kids. My daughter always wore dresses so it was easy want to make sure the boys are dressed ok.

Clarea Posted August 19, 2019 #3 Share Posted August 19, 2019 The suggested dress normally says no shorts at dinner, regardless of age, or whether the shorts are nice, dress, tailored, or smart. However, Royal does not enforce dress suggestions, so a large number just ignore them. Wear whatever you like.

MNelson486 Posted August 19, 2019 #5 Share Posted August 19, 2019 My son always wore khaki pants and a polo shirt with nicer tennis shoes (vans or something like that). He always looked fine and we had no issues.

DKLI Posted August 19, 2019 #7 Share Posted August 19, 2019 We saw EVERYTHING being worn in the dining room on Mariner at the beginning of the month (4 nite) on both adults and children. Including flip flops and tee shirts, including on the one formal night. Most were dressed according to guidelines though.
cruisegirl1 Posted August 19, 2019 #8 Share Posted August 19, 2019 What you describe should be fine for your 18 month old and a 4 year old. Honestly children that age can wear just about anything to dinner, except swimwear. (Of course there will be someone who posts that their child wore a swimsuit and there was no problem) enjoy M
