Quilting1 Posted September 3, 2019 #1 Share Posted September 3, 2019 We are seriously thinking about the 28 day Hawaii/Tahiti cruise Feb 2020 but have some questions hopefully you great cruisers can answer. 1. Do things get repetitive on this long of a cruise? EG: Does a 10 day menu get repeated in the mdr? Are there 28 different movies under the stars? Or are activities NOT repeated? 2. Are there 2 main show times in the evening or only 1? Thank you in advance. Our longest cruise to this point has been 10 days and this is a big leap, not only in time but $$$. Disliked our Mexican Riviera Princess cruise 2 yrs ago--South Pacific is on the bucket list and this seems the best way for us to go. All input is appreciated.

Two, most nights. Thank you in advance. Our longest cruise to this point has been 10 days and this is a big leap, not only in time but $$$. We enjoyed this cruise so much, we booked it again in 2021. The South Pacific is amazing. Keep in mind that you have to enjoy sea days...there are lots of them. Google "yellow fish blog". She and her DH have done these islands many times, lots of great reading and hints. Edited September 3, 2019 by JF - retired RRT
mnocket Posted September 3, 2019 #3 Share Posted September 3, 2019 I'm on this cruise. Everyone feels different about sea days, and there are a lot of them on this cruise. I think the return from the south pacific to L.A. is 8 straight sea days. We love them. If you don't do well with sea days, this is probably not the best cruise for you. If you are OK with sea days and the south pacific is on your bucket list, this cruise is a very good and cost effective option. I've been to Tahiti before and longed to return, but it's soooo expensive. On such a long flight I find economy class to be torture. You'll find business class airfare alone costs as much or more than this cruise in a balcony cabin. Then there's the cost of lodging which is again very expensive. The over-water bungalow we stayed in 25 years ago now costs $1,000+ per night! Sure you could take a cheaper approach to a south pacific vacation, but dollar-for dollar we find this cruise to be a real bargain. I still hope to one day return to Tahiti for that over-water bungalow experience, but until then this cruise is an affordable compromise. If you're interested, there's a very active roll call for this cruise.....
janina Posted September 3, 2019 #4 Share Posted September 3, 2019 We are taking the long 26 day Pacific on the Golden Sept 26, San Francisco to Sydney. This will be our 2nd time and we just love it. The sea days are so relaxing and the shows, entertainment etc keep changing. Menu's do have some repeats but also new things. Give it a try or you'll never know if you like it. Menus did not repeat on say a 7 or 10 day cycle, but menu items do appear more than once. Most evenings there were 2 shows. There were some older production shows added. There will be lots and lots of trivia, maybe 3 times a day. Probably a progressive trivia also. Lots of karaoke. Lots of bingo. There will be a crossing the equator event and at least one or two deck parties. Probably some pool games. Evening and day activities really depends on how innovative the cruise staff is and how much effort they want to place on planning. There are 18 sea days with 8 in a row at the end. We joined in as many activities as we could, even if we thought they were silly. I don't remember much regarding the movies, but think the will have plenty of them. Plan your port calls in detail. Patrick's tour in Bora Bora is a good one. Edited September 3, 2019 by skynight
nukesubsailor Posted September 3, 2019 #6 Share Posted September 3, 2019 Individual lounge entertainers like comics, magicians, musicians, and singers have changed at some of the port stops during the cruise. Some that entertain on the LA to Hawaii part of the cruise might leave and be replaced in Hawaii. The same thing will probably happen at other ports as well. At least that is the way it was when we did this cruise in 2012 and 2017.
