Past guest party

Used to be the invites were taken at the door, placed in a drum, and a few cards were drawn at the end of the show for minor prizes.  That was back when Carnival had a live band and dancers were encouraged to come up on the stage.

Back then, a platinum or Diamond could bring 1 guest with them, same as now.  Carnival does frown on additional guests attending the party.  We don't drink, and we skipped the P&D party on the Conquest 2 weeks ago.  Sitting and chatting with the Captain during his Diamond brunch was more satisfying to us than the past guest get together.

I think the P&D party is like anything else on Carnival. There are always going to be people who don’t follow rules or don’t think the rules apply to them. As much as I like Carnival, I understand their price point appeals to multiple demographics with a lot of different views on rules, proper etiquette, proper behavior, etc.

Yep, and the trays with the free drinks.  There were like three different ones.  One was a margarita, I don't remember the others.

Whiskey sour, Manhattan are a couple, along with champagne and wine. And then the hor d’oeuvres. Yummy! The live band playing with dancing on the stage—for the Captains Reception for EVERYONE, not just past cruisers. We returned to Carnival just this past March, after several years of cruising RCCL and NCL. Our last Carnival Cruise was in 2007, until this March. We were shocked that the parties were now only for the P&D! Oh, well, after my April cruise I only have 16 days until Platinum. I guess I will have to find me a 16 day Journey cruise, as we are enjoying Carnival WAY more than our RCCLand NCL cruises. Except for the Freestyle Cruising concept of NCL. I wish Carnival went to that. I don’t like that I first of all have to get approval for choosing YTD, then I don’t like that you are restricted to only one MDR for YTD. But all in all, Carnival is way more fun! 🛳😎🌴🏖

I'm a platinum member, my cabin mate will be red. Will they be able to go to the party with me?

i haven't seen a written policy, so its 'likely' up to the ship!

i'm sure you'll hear opinions here that will say yes and no!

So if you go, let us know what happens!-))

LOL . . . the first past guest party I went to had a 4 X 8 portable table with finger sandwiches and potato chips with a huge galvanized bucket on the floor, filled with cokes, 7-ups and ice. There were about 12 guests participating. It was held at the entrance to the aft showroom where the rental tuxedos were hanging/stored. 🙂

I remember back in the '90s going to both the Captain's Party and the Past Guest party where there were free drinks. Later they offered special drink pricing at the Captain's party. I also remember that my first Carnival cruise had an opening night Casino party, where there was a complimentary specialty drink offered when you visited the Casino.
