NCL Freestyle dining

I have searched for this answer and I am not finding any threads.  It has been years since I have sailed NCL.  In the evening, at the complimentary dining venues, (Joy & Bliss) are there no longer ANY set dining times?  We just show up and randomly get seated and served by different wait staff nightly?  Thank you for your responses.

The same as when you dine out at home.  You show up, get seated, and enjoy your dinner.  Sometimes the host/hostess will ask if you'd like to share a table, if so, it will just be random table mates.

Being able to just dine with your partner is something most cruisers on NCL, love, being able to just enjoy each other's company can make your cruise very special.

You will be seated in a section and served by a waiter and assistant waiter.  The party size will determine how many tables are each section.  The tables within a section can be interspersed with other sections within a degree of proximity so you think you are receiving individual service.  The service in the section is then paced for apps, entrees, and dessert.  If you are seated first in the section, then initial service may seem slow relative to those seated last.  Typically, when the entrees begin to arrive, all tables are synchronized as to schedule and service.   The system begins to fall apart when there are late arrivals in the party or a party lingers - that is when you need a good manager to make changes on the fly.
