Rare 1025cruise Posted September 10, 2019 #4 Share Posted September 10, 2019 They are still working this out. I will be announced once they know. Some ships are still going to Freeport to drop supplies, but passengers won't be able to get off.
Mallow Posted September 10, 2019 #5 Share Posted September 10, 2019 I wonder if the popular cruise insurances will cover this as an itinerary change or since it is hurricane related it wouldn't be covered? It is just sad to see how much damage the Freeport area has taken and there is almost nothing left standing.
RandomUser123 Posted September 10, 2019 #6 Share Posted September 10, 2019 I will be on the Pride 10/20 which has Freeport stop. I will not complain with whatever Carnival decides to do.
VentureMan_2000 Posted September 10, 2019 #7 Share Posted September 10, 2019 Port Nassau reopened for cruise ships Sept. 2 Carnival Cruise Line resumed regular calls to the Bahamas on Sunday. Gma&Gpa Posted September 10, 2019 #8 Share Posted September 10, 2019 We will be on the Pride on Oct 13. If we end up with only two ports, that is fine. If we stop and deliver supplies for Freeport, that is fine. The folks in the Bahamas depend on tourism and anything that can be done for them is all right with us. A cruise deviation is nothing compared to what these people have been, and are, going through

The first suffered minimal if any effects while the second was extremely damaged.
VentureMan_2000 Posted September 10, 2019 #10 Share Posted September 10, 2019 Yes, your correct... my bad. I did read that the Pride will be stopping in Freeport, but only to offload disaster relieve supplies. Passengers will not be able to leave the ship. 'Carnival sent a letter to guests on both sailings stating, “Given Hurricane Dorian’s impact on Freeport, the island is unable to accept cruise guests at this time. As part of our commitment to the recovery efforts, we will continue with our scheduled call so that we can deliver much needed relief supplies.” The letter went on to say that no guests will be allowed to go ashore during the stop and that pre-purchased excursions would be refunded.' https://cruiseradio.net/carnival-sends-cruise-ships-to-freeport-with-hurricane-supplies/
pacruise804 Posted September 11, 2019 #11 Share Posted September 11, 2019 This sounds like a good plan. Many people complained in the past about Freeport as a stop, so having an extra "sea" day shouldn't be a negative impact to the cruisers while still providing relief to the residents.
