heatherpl Posted September 11, 2019 #1 Share Posted September 11, 2019 So it has been few years since I sailed on the Pride since October 2015. Going in February 2020. I was wondering if anything has changed during those years and the Pros and Cons? I only remember a slight con on my cruise then was the buffet not having many options or if they did it was not a lot of food out at the time of meals. As not being kept stocked. Now I do remember Guys and Iguana being so good it over rides the buffet selection during Breakfast and Lunch. This will be my 3rd time cruising with Pride. Darwal Posted September 12, 2019 #3 Share Posted September 12, 2019 Love everything about the Pride, it’s our favorite, we just cruised her end July. In Feb it had a refurb, so it’s nice and clean, fresh paint, carpets, etc. I found the lido buffet to be very good with many choices, but my go-to is always the Blue Iguana. Honestly my only complete is the yellow twisty slide, it’s painfully slow, sometimes you have to push yourself....but if that’s the only Con then it’s not much. eas2225 Posted September 12, 2019 #4 Share Posted September 12, 2019 Just got off the Pride last Sunday, Sept. 8th. This was our 7th time, and we rally didn't have any cons. Buffet was good, breakfast in the MDR is better, David's was awesome, as usual, and the pizza, Blue Iguana and Guys were great. Ship is older, but is well maintained. Ken Byrne, the singing Maitre'd is fabulous, as was our cruise director, Dr. E. Enjoy!

We cruise again next Feb and I hope he is there again. Laura
2xsin12mths Posted September 13, 2019 #6 Share Posted September 13, 2019 Did they refurb the rooms or are they still the Carnival peach? We go in May. I love the ships with the updated rooms. Even paradise was updated when I went to Cuba in April 😃
daljcl Posted September 16, 2019 #7 Share Posted September 16, 2019 IS the casino open on the first night of cruise?
JMAE Posted September 16, 2019 #8 Share Posted September 16, 2019 Just return from the Pride yesterday. I don't have any ship cons, we love the Pride and the easy layout. Some rooms have had the curtains bed coverings and skirt changed to the blue colors. While walking some had the blue carpet too. It appears they may have address the vibration too during the February dry dock.

We have sailed as recently as last month on the Pride (our 5th time) It's one of our favorite ships because it's only about a four hour drive and we love the Spirit class ships! We will sail on the Miracle for the first time this Sunday out of Tampa. I will say that our only con is the smoke in the casino. These spirit class ships have the best serenity areas. Easy layout, too. Just the right size.
chrislo Posted September 16, 2019 #10 Share Posted September 16, 2019 We were on her in April and after being on all the new big ships we were concerned. Our worries were for nothing we loved this ship and it is now one of our favorites. No cons from us.
heatherpl Posted September 17, 2019 Author #11 Share Posted September 17, 2019 does anyone have a general menu or items served in the buffet?
pacruise804 Posted September 27, 2019 #12 Share Posted September 27, 2019 My husband and I love the Pride as a ship. The biggest con for us is also a big pro - location. Baltimore is an easy 3-3.5 hour drive for us, but it is much farther north than Miami 😉 We generally don't cruise in the summer, so that often means cooler weather the first and last sea days. The options are limited if you have to divert due to a hurricane too. The itineraries are limited with the location too. Even the Eastern Caribbean stops are mostly North Atlantic. Unless you are on a longer Journeys cruise expect rougher seas in cooler water. There are a few Bermuda cruises (still cooler water), but generally expect a stop at Nassau or Grand Turk, a private island, and Freeport (or Sea Day until accepting guests). We have sailed twice and will likely sail again - she is a great ship. But there are some trade-offs.
helene109 Posted September 27, 2019 #13 Share Posted September 27, 2019 Great to hear as I am looking into it for next summer as my daughter just moved there. I have been on the Vista, Glory, Dream, Paradise and the Valor 2 weeks ago, Menus would be nice. Thanks
kupton Posted September 27, 2019 #14 Share Posted September 27, 2019 We have sailed the Pride 3 times since 2015 and love it. December 2018 was the most recent and the only con I remember was bad vibration in the back of the main dining room.
lenetere Posted September 28, 2019 #15 Share Posted September 28, 2019 I'm wondering if the retractable roof over the swimming pool has been fixed. Last time we went it could only be opened or closed when in port.
evandbob Posted September 28, 2019 #16 Share Posted September 28, 2019 There were many posts here on CC about the Pride having really violent vibrations felt by those in any of the cabins near the aft. Has this issue been resolved? If the Pride is similar to the Miracle, then I have good reason to avoid it. I understand some pax like it because they can drive and not fly to the port, and most fares are reasonably priced. Just too old and Farcusly jaded for me. JMO, YMMV.
