Someone posted in our roll call that the trolley was out.  Does anyone have any recent information on the trolley?

The most recent post, made on September 9, is that the trolley is not running:

Update-Sept 2019 : The trolley’s are “out-of – order”. Not running. San Juan has a few small golf carts occasionally going by to take people on route. Really not a practical way to get around OSJ right now. If you can’t walk, consider a Taxi or Uber.

Back to the question at hand, does anyone know if the trolley's are running?

There have been no first hand reports of the trolleys running in recent months so I have to assume nothing has changed since the last first hand report saying that they are not.

I'll be in San Juan with my parents in a few weeks, and my dad really wants to see El Morro.  They are fairly mobile, but walking to El Morro and back is probably a bit much for them.

Sounds like the free trolley won't be an option, so what's plan B?  Taxi (or Uber)?  Is there a taxi stand near the pier or do you just have to go to the street and wave one down?  (I'm not a city girl, so I'm not familiar with taxi hailing tactics!)  What is the expected cost of a taxi from the pier to El Morro?  (I don't want to get overcharged!)

Thanks for any advice you can give!

I’m just wondering, why aren’t they running?

Probably hurricane damage.

Perhaps this will help. There is a fixed taxi rate table for one-way trips between zones. Getting Around San Juan, Puerto Rico by Taxi

Happy sails,
