Earthquake in Acapulco area today around 11:am. Mariner was docked and shook for about 10-15 seconds. Was reported approx 4.0.

Gang way closed to passengers until cleared by authorities. 30 minutes later all clear and back to normal. No reported damage yet.

Thanks for reporting that.  Those of us from CA think that a 4.0 is a bump in the road.  But, it does depend upon where the center of the quake was.

Yep.  And per the handy-dandy calculation page at earthquake.usgs.gov , a 4.9 quake is 8x bigger and 22x stronger than a 4.0 quake.  Not surprised it was felt at the dock, since the quake was centered very close to Acapulco.

We were wondering why our bus took so long to leave, found out later it’s was because some of our group were being held onboard due to the quake. We didn’t feel it on the bus.

I suppose unless there were a Tsunami along with the earthquake one wouldn't feel much on the ship.

 

I saw the results of the mammoth earthquake near Pisco Peru from the Mariner when we were docked.  (Quake had happened maybe 3 months before).   I am surprised (and relieved) that you felt nothing when on the bus, Jerie...
