S.K.I. on Cruises Posted October 6, 2019 #1 Share Posted October 6, 2019 Hi, has anyone travelled with Intercruises to Southampton please? If so, are they very strict with checking the measurements and weight of the suitcases that you are allowed to bring? Our suitcases are a a few centimetres larger than a medium suitcase and invariably bu the time we put our shoes in the suitcases they exceed the 20kg. weight limit by a kg. or so especially if we have to include formal wear. Thanks. 😊
John Bull Posted October 6, 2019 #2 Share Posted October 6, 2019 (edited) Intercruises provide transfers for UK cruisers between cruise terminals and pick-up points around the UK. This isn't the National Express stage-fare coaches, or ships' airport transfers. Their coaches don't have elastic sides, and are subject to maximum gross weights - hence the luggage limits. But the driver isn't going to worry about a couple of kilos or inches - he's unlikely to even have a scales. So as long as you don't take liberties, no worries. For the benefit of other members ........... 1. "There or thereabouts" also applies to National Express coach drivers. 2. Ship-sponsored transfers between ports and airports / central London theoretically have no luggage limits or charges. Cruise lines generally expect to carry around 35 passengers per coach, even though the coaches are 44 - to 53 seaters, because of the volume of luggage - one reason why the fares are comparatively poor value. (Some, such as Cunard, make more economical use of coach seats by also contracting a truck for some of the luggage from Heathrow & sometimes from Gatwick) JB Edited October 6, 2019 by John Bull
S.K.I. on Cruises Posted October 7, 2019 Author #3 Share Posted October 7, 2019 Thanks John Bull, that’s just what we were hoping! We definitely won’t be taking liberties but were just worried that by the time we packed the cases they might be a little bit heavier than 20kg. 😊
