Ports in Northern Norway

We have just got back from a 18 day cruise of Northern Norway and I thought I would post what we did in case it is of help to others as we had trouble finding information before we left.

Faroe Island Denmark , Did a ship tour to Vestmanna Cliffs which was great. Hard to coordinate busses to do this yourself.

Lofoten Islands. Did a ship tour of the island. Found it impossible to do a private tour here.

Honningsvad. Took an excellent private tour to North Cape from th cruise terminal. "North Cape Tours"

Longyearbyen. Took a 2 hour Maxitaxi tour and then used the ship shuttle to visit the town. Tour was Longyearbyen in a nutshell.

Tromso. Walked over the bridge to the Arctic Cathedral and  then went up the Cable- Car for the view. Later visited Polaris and a market.

Alesund. Easy to do on your own. Caught the HoHo bus to Sunmore Museum and around town

Where did you go on your Longyearbyen tour?

The tour just stayed close to town. Saw the seed vault, an old mine, husky area and view of the town from up a hill.

Thanks for sharing! We had an awesome tour in Longyearbyen, a bit of a walk but we loved it!  All Norway towns are like living in a fairy tale, but they are a bit expensive. We enjoyed it nonetheless.

Thanks for posting. We are heading there next June, so some good suggestions there in your experiences.
