Rare Saint Greg Posted December 4, 2019 Author #776 Share Posted December 4, 2019 First stop is Macorix rum tour/tasting. The rum tour cost $4. Have them every 15 minutes. The next one is in 10 minutes they say. I pay and head over to take some pictures around the area. Then over to where the tour is starting. Rare Saint Greg Posted December 4, 2019 Author #777 Share Posted December 4, 2019 (edited) They have a full size replica of a Christopher columbus ship there as well. I took this from pretty far away. Edited December 4, 2019 by Saint Greg 1
Rare Saint Greg Posted December 4, 2019 Author #778 Share Posted December 4, 2019 Okay it’s tour time. I head over to the entrance where the tour goers are lined up. The guide comes out and starts talking. And I have no idea what she’s saying. I tell Miguel this isn’t going work. Turns out this tour was in Russian. English tour in 15 minutes. Let’s check out the gift shop.

THought only specialty coffees Nope. I very rarely drink specialty coffees, just regular, but it is far superior than the coffee in the buffet area.
Rare Saint Greg Posted December 4, 2019 Author #782 Share Posted December 4, 2019 This is the aging room. It’s very dark and flashes are not allowed. I tried to take pictures of the ones that have lights near them.

I had it on Vista and it was great (not too Starbucks-like!) and I'm hoping it's the same fleetwide... I cannot say whether or not it’s the same on all ships, but as someone that totally dislikes Starbuck’s bitter coffee, I enjoy this coffee thoroughly. Where I live, near the Canadian border, we love Tim Hortons coffee.

Rare Saint Greg Posted December 4, 2019 Author #788 Share Posted December 4, 2019 (edited) We tasted 8 different rums. There was a regular rum, a spiced rum, some flavored rums. Mama juana which they call then baby maker. Then they started mixing rums to make fruit punch and pina colada. Really you could’ve drank as much rum as you wanted here. Nobody left wanting more rum. coevan Posted December 4, 2019 #796 Share Posted December 4, 2019 We did a similar tour. We got a taxi off the doc, asked for a English speaking driver. We had a fantastic day, cigar factory, rum factory, farmers market, drove through the rich peoples area and then we took him out to lunch at a local place, excellent. All for $40, lunch and a tip.
