Give me your PRIDE tips!

Hi Everyone,

 

Been on Carnival a few times but first time on the Pride.  Its been a few years since I have been on Carnival though.

 

What are your best tips for this ship?  We are stopping in Freeport, Princess Cays and Grand Turk.

 

Ps. If you have any tips for a public beach in Freeport, please let me know.

freeport was not a great port. we stayed on ship. 

 

must have breakfast- blue iguana breakfast burrito- with crispy potatoes

 

walk the ship in the am. great exercise. 

 

punchliner at night- great

 

80s glow party - brought glow sticks. 

 

do the trivia- 

 

teen club- my teens loved it. still talk to people they met 2 years ago. 

 

any other questions?  putt putt fun too.

the 80s glow party sounds fun! Is there a theatre show as well?

The theater shows were great.  The comedy shows not so much.

You can walk from 1 end of the ship to the other on deck 3 and avoid all of the casino smoke on deck 2.

The theatre shows are fun.  If I am not mistake the two major production shows are  "Island Gateway" and "88 Keys"  both have wonderful music and fun dancing.  They have eliminated the live orchestra a while back but still nice.  Each of these are shown twice in the course of the evening to accommodate both the early and late dinner seating 

 

On the first night they have a fun little show  hosted the the Cruise Director with songs and dancing BUT there is only one show time that first night and it's rather late (maybe 10:30PM)

 

All of the above are in the Taj Mahal

 

When we pull out of port there is also a Sail Away Party on the upper Lido deck to wave out of Baltimore

Is Dr. E still the CD on the Pride?  If so, do NOT miss any of the shows that he does in the Atrium.  (I recall he did a Motown and an '80's show).  He is hilarious!

 

The comedy shows depend on the talent.  We've been on the Pride twice and the comedy shows were pitiful.

 

88 Keys is a good production show.

when someone says freeport was not a great port they obviously didnt go outside the port. the actual port is an industrial port so of course its not a "great" port but if you do an excursion that takes you to the other side of the island its beautiful. we've done the dolphin excursions several times and hand a great time.

We have FTTF for our upcoming Pride cruise but am not sure what time to try and arrive at the port.  It does show FTTF as our boarding group from 12:00-12:30PM.  Normally for our "warmer" cruises we try to arrive between 10:30 and 11:00am at the ports.

I am having a difficult/impossible time trying to find the current cruise director schedule.  I find references to it and a link to an "Air Table" that either doesn't exist or that I cannot access.  We are sailing on the Pride on January 19, 2020 and we would like to know who the Cruise Director is going to be.  Thanks for any assistance you can provide.  😃

We're just back from the Pride.  I think that Dr. E said the next cruise director was named Marty something, but unfortunately I can't remember the last name.  

 

I enjoyed the 80's show in the Taj Mahal, but the Island thing was pretty bad, 88 Keys was somewhere in the middle.

 

3 of the 4 comedians were funny.  Jim Brick, Julie (?), and Roman were all funny, but Jersey not so much.  

 

They've somewhat redone the brunch menu since we last sailed about a year ago, but I think that was the only main change in the dining.  

 

Overall we had a great cruise, even with afternoon down pours in Nassau.

The next Cruise Director is Marty Andrews, looks like he was on the Legend for an Alaskan cruise, and that was his tryout for being a cruise director. I think he went by Marty Pitts then.

If it’s Marty Andrew, he was our Cruise Director on the Fantasy last February. I normally don’t give a rat’s behind who the cruise director is (90% of the time I couldn’t even tell you their name), but Marty left a very positive impression.  He truly earned my respect when the ship was delayed 10 hours returning to Mobile due to fog. Quickly he turned debarkation day into another day at sea. Everything was coordinated perfectly and seamlessly. And when it was finally time for debarkation at 5pm, he was very hands on, energetic, and visible during that delayed process, even after what was probably a pretty exhausting day. We were watching him from one of the upper decks in the atrium and he looked like the Energizer Bunny. 
 

If you get him on the Pride, you’ll be thankful.

Thank You for this insight. I found a youtube video on him, and was impressed, but I can not find anything else on him. He is the Cruise Director for my cruise. When we booked, we were excited that we had Dr. E. then to find out they switched him to Breeze? then noticed it was Marty. 
 

Hopefully he is as good for us as he was for you. Either way we will still like our cruise.

 I don’t think I’ve ever sailed on any cruise where the Cruise Director has been as visible and hands on as Marty was. It seemed like he was everywhere, leading multiple activities. Sometimes it seemed like he was in multiple places at once! You’d go from one venue to another and he’d be in both! 😂. One moment you’d see him conducting a Dr. Seuss read-along, and a littler later he’d be mingling with guests at a cocktail party, and shortly after that he’d be officiating a party at the atrium in 80’s attire. He was truly nonstop. But unlike other cruises where I wish that the CD would go away, Marty’s presence was always welcome. He’s a good combination of entertaining and professional, and he was never annoying.
