Royal Suite Room Service

Sailing on Summit in a Royal Suite. I have a bid in for penthouse, so it may get upgraded.  What room service options does Celebrity provide at the Royal and Penthouse level?  Main Dining Room menu?  Luminae?  Specialty Restaurants?

Technically MDR menu only. However, a chat with your butler in advance can make a difference. With 24 hours notice that you want something special they will usually do their best to accommodate guests. We have enjoyed meals not on any menu...I think frequency of requests can also make a difference. If every breakfast time you are requesting ‘Luminae breakfast’ that is different than arranging it just on one or two occasions.

When in a RS or PH  if we decide ‘last minute’ to dine in suite we stay with the standard menu. We simply don’t think it is fair to expect the Speciality Restaurant staff and butler to run around on a last minute basis, possibly impacting on service to other suites too. Also remember on specific nights your butler can be on theatre escort duty.

Also remember that if you order order from the speciality restaurants there is some lag from cooking to delivery.

Best wishes for your bid...the PH on M class is sooooo much nicer than the RS but be warned it is very hard then to go back....

I was in a RS on Summit 2 weeks ago and requested to dine in for dinner one evening (Tuscan), I requested this on embarkation day and told the suite manager I was flexible on the day, any night would be fine. I was denied this request and told they no longer offer this to RS and PH. I was also in RS a few months ago and was able to have Tuscan in the suite, no problem. Maybe I should have asked the butler instead 😉

Disappointing to hear you were denied this (although technically it has never been available)...I think sometimes Suite Managers try to ‘stick to the rules’, especially if they have had a cruise or two with overdemanding guests...

Unfortunately over demanding guests do exist and it only takes one or two guests constantly ‘expecting’ rather than ‘requesting’ service above and beyond to put pressure on the butler system impacting on the service to other suite guests. If one couple has ‘demanded’ Speciality Dining in their room (last minute or frequently) and has been politely but firmly told this is not available they may then find it awkward to allow another guest to have it...

I definitely think requesting room service from a speciality restaurant should be seen as a something ‘above and beyond’ rather than an expectation. If we did request and we were refused (either by our butler or the suite manager) I would accept it unless there was a real ‘reason’ (special occasion, mobility/health issue, traveling with a small child) when I would quietly explain my reasoning...

It is actually very rare we do request ‘special’ room service simply because we prefer to ‘dine out’  and ‘snack in’...If we want to dine in we will often be happy with something from the standard menu like chicken noodle soup and a sandwich with fries (room service fries are really nice)!  We have when cruising in the PH or a RS at times collected our own pizza  late evening from the buffet to enjoy on the balcony...we don’t need to always have everything delivered and served!

In an RS suite on Infinity right now. We requested and have received a detox smoothie every morning. I wasn't sure we could get this because the spa cafe is farther away than any of the restaurants but our butler didn't bat an eye. We also have our desserts sent to our room after dinner. This was never a problem both times on Infinity, but we received a little pushback from restaurant staff on Edge when we were in a villa and they finally agreed to contact our butler who delivered it happily. Our butler on Edge only had 6 suites to service while our butler on Infinity has 13 to 18. So, as often in life, YMMV.

I totally understand why the Specialties won't serve their menus in cabin. To be frank I think it is unreasonable to expect it, yet you can come to Cruise Critic and people do it. Heck, I felt guilty being served the delicious Tuscan minestrone soup when I was in Luminae.

As chemmo said, a lot of the enjoyment is going to the venue itself. My own view is stick to ordering standard room service and if you do want a special menu then go to the Specialties.
