Japan Cruise 2022

Just booked a 14 day cruise in and out of Tokyo on the Celebrity Solstice. I have read that a new cruise terminal, Shinkyaku Pier will be opening in April 2020. I have read that this new terminal will accommodate larger cruise ships so I suspect that the Solstice embarkation and disembarkation will take place there. Any recommendations of areas in Tokyo to stay a couple of nights before the cruise that would be somewhat close to this new terminal but still be in a area of the city where there are many things to do. We love walking around a discovering a city.

There's no reason to stay near the port.

Look at Asakusa for your Tokyo stay.  It's the last area in Tokyo that is the older, traditional buildings, craft shops and temples.  Many good hotels and restaurants.   Public transportation is widely available and convenient.   (Asakusa is pronounce A-sock-sah.  Do not confuse it with the Akasusa neighborhood in tokyo.)
