Docks in NYC

Will be embarking in NYC in August for a Transatlantic cruise.  When will we know what port our ship will be using--Manhattan or Brooklyn? 

 

Also, recommendations for hotels in NYC with best access to tourist sites and to the port?

For embarking and disembarking Princess cruises usually use Brooklyn/Red Hook.

Princess only docks at Manhattan when NYC is an interim stop on a cruise, as far as I know.

I would think it'll be Brooklyn, but you could check the port schedule here https://www.nycruise.com/schedule/

It looks like they haven't updated it for 2020 yet, but you could check later.  We cruised from Brooklyn in Oct 2018 and the schedule was updated early in the year, if memory serves.

The Marriott Financial Center is located quite close to all of the landmarks in lower Manhatten (just across from Brooklyn) and is an easy walk to Ground Zero Memorial & Museum, the boats to the SOL, Eataly and many other great spots. Also easy to the subway for all of the other locations in NYC. They have a very busy and capable car service that they work with that can get you over to the ship.Reservations for this are made with the bell captain in the hotel. This is a very business oriented hotel and so you should have no concerns about the dependability of the car service. I have used their services often to JFK, Newark, and Penn Station for business and I can't say enough good things about them.

The hotel has rooms with views of the SOL and it is quiet and comfortable and has great A/C. For regular trips to restaurants or tourism sites, Uber is ubiquitous in the city as well as cabs at the hotel
